that is the recovery, you have to press volume plus power or something to get the options to show. Google it.

OP this is exactly what I needed for my M8 which has an OTA waiting.

Does it matter if I have an older version of the Stock Recovery i.e. from the older version 4.4.2? Would it still let me download the next OTA which is the L?

if you don't know how to follow this simple path, then it's really beter not to hack your phone, cos you might damage it.

In a terminal or an ADB shell type : "ls /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery" without quotes. If it return "file not found" or something like that you're not using this structure.
If you don't know about terminal and/or ADB, Google is your friend

When I change from custom recovery to stock recovery, won't I then lose my root?

No, You wont lose root.

Sorry I haven't been in the thread I've been busy with real life. hehe I will definitly add more options. I might add an option for switching the boot.imgs as well.

To tell if your device is supported just use any root file explorer and navigate to /dev/block/platform....
