Inspired by BSDgeek_jane's mother of adblock, ive combined more than 19 hostname lists into one.
Its name should speak itself- this will keep most dangerous sites out of your range, and ads should be gone too.
The focus stays on security/privacy. maybe the huge file could slow down your android device, the moab is a mid-way cause its trimmed down already to take care of this point.
you can find tips to improve your device in second post.
!!
-- Important --
Firefox seems to ignore hosts file, import settings to Pale Moon (modified Firefox)
this is big security bug, known by devs since about 8 years and still no change
!!

it blocks:
(version legend= ad , security , both)

- ads [minimal]
- tracking
- PUB (Potentially Unwanted Program)
- malware/spyware [minimal]
- exploits
- fraud
- hijacking
- phishing
- typosquating
- botnets
- dns censorship* circum version currently discontinued
- bad ssl
- worms
- trojans / virus [minimal]
- ddos

works on:

- Windows* still testing
- Linux
- Android

install:

just extract the file and copy it to your hosts file direction.
if theres no file to overwrite, its the wrong location.
linux= /etc/
check all lines on linux before, just paste my file after them to prevent system problems
(for example user hostname changes)
android= /system/etc/ [the mobile version grants automatic flash with recovery]
windows= /system32/drivers/etc/
same as on linux. pasting behind always keeps it safer.

remember that it cant block everything, find missing hostnames on android with blockit!.
heres a list of sources, please let me know if you reach more.

this isnt a full guide but some kind of list. all 'how to' is stored on xda, just search and then ask.

universal (firefox addons) =
fasterfox
page speed
proxmate
skyzip
tweak network
[privacy] defense
noscript

starting with android =
rom without huge feature list - both
convert system to f2fs & use art instead of dalvik runtime - improves both battery& performance
partition sdcard ext4 - performance on moved (with link2sd for example) apps
use custom kernel - mostly battery&performance
change kernel settings (arch_power, gentle_fair_sleepers, power-efficient workqueues for battery / choose cpu and gpu governor , improvement depends on your choice. i would recommend to choose an base and take most reworked gov that fits your need. apps for example: cpu tuner) - both
flash fresh weekly or btw on intervals (backups are easy- you can use nandroid in recovery, oandbackup for app/data) - both
delete unneeded apps (with oandbackup/tianium backup...) and use things that also remove some: minimized gapps like delta gapps , freecyngn - both
disable some services/activities on google apps (play services 'SystemUpdateService' ....) - battery
search smaller alternatives to default apps (quickpic...) - performance
check default performance options in settings
use tweaks (Fly-On Mod, Malive Booster, flag_tuner, sched_tuner, skeleton, maybe nitrox and still the best: supercharger)
use the following apps
boosters plus battery saver / sdcard booster - both
snapdragon batteryguru
bootmanager (xposed) - performance on bootup
bw ruler - performance
cpu sleeper - battery on deepsleep
greenify - both
history eraser - performance
internet booster and optimizator - performance
Pixel BatterySaver
sd maid - performance
battery calibration is nearly useless, modern phones do this themself on full load and remember battery is getting older/weaker with every load (doesnt matter if up or empty)
im no friend of cpu overclocks, stable runs are the nicest

linux =
use clamav with clamtk as a small antivir
smaller alternatives (if dekstop environment: lxde,....)
bleachbit
Nixory

windows =
immunet antivir
nixory
ccleaner
ultradefrag
little registry optimizer

try to discover how much space is left in your system partition. With hosts file inside im having 0,96 gb free ( For example x-plore shows all space ).
You actually need ~ 71 mb. Any size above that isnt working is caused by other problems; waiting for your reply.

Will have a look at windows specific files soon, maybe theres an important pre-line like in linux ( no su auth without comp hostname - sudo still works ) , thats why i wrote to take a look and place my file behind yours.
If not, another reason could be your traffic - routed trough a blacklisted connection will prevent connection.

Are there any other mirrors? One without every ad on the Internet... Can't get to the actual download without about 17 pop-ups.
