XDA so that I can get on-line at local call rates in non-GPRS
countries? :)

Try this site - the link takes you straight to the external
modem answer. The site is full of how to's so well worth
bookmarking. The other link is where you end up with the actual
instructions. It is based on connecting a Cassiopeia, but should
be a start.
