Subject: Dismantling the XDA

I'd like to respray my T-Mobile phone (the one with the bad
paint job) - I've upgraded the RAM to 64mB so I don't want
to/can't swap it under warranty.

Can someone post basic instructions on taking this thing part -
especially removing all the stuff from the ftont cover plate??

I've had the back off and it looks OK to do but anyt hints and
tips and pics appreciated

Thanks in advance :o

First get rid off the 4 screws at the back, then remove the
antenna plastic cover. From the antenna hole, gently force open
the XDA apart. From the initial separation at the tip of the
antenna then you work your way down using your nails.

Inside, you need to open two more screws at the bottom & top(top
one is sealed with the warranty sticker), then you need to
unplug three flat cables. After that you'll be able to seperate
the middle part from the screen. Four more screws will let you
take off the screen from the casing

Hi Confused, thanks for the information. When you say you did
it, have you resprayed the case?? If so what paint did you use
and how did it apply and is holding out??

Thanks 8)

Interesting plan.

That Silver is a bit tacky. A nice gun metal black maybe?

My warranty runs out in September, nothing happening til then
for me!!

So has anyone painted their XDA successfully? My paint was peeling really pad, so I sanded it off with 320 grip sandpaper. Looks better than before, but still not great.

The power button on my XDA II is stuck - so I have to use a soft reset all the time to get it to work.

Does anyone know if the instructions for opening the XDA are the same for XDA II?

I did drop it and the power button got pressed in - looks like it's squashed so I am hoping if I take the case off I can straighten it out a bit. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks
