Pocket Windows Media PLayer 8.5 dows not support *.dat files from VCD.
You may want to covert them to divx with a smaller screen size and then play them with pocket Divx player. Pocket Windows Media PLayer 8.5 onluy support mpg, wma, wmv, and MP3 (and wav).
IF you use pocket divx doe covert your sound to mp3 not ogg becaus this may not work.
check http://www.projectmayo.com/projects/index.php for info on pocket divx and http://www.virtualdub.org/ for coverting your video files to an other format. good luck.
And sorry cant help you on the CHM thing but will look in to it. 8)

Rename the .dat to .mpg and play with your favourite mpeg player :)

Windows XP contains a tool to edit and convert them.
First rename the .DAT file into .MPG
Then start "windows movie maker" , and load the .MPG file
(start/programs/accessories/entertainment/windows movie maker)
Drag the clip down to the movie bar, and edit the clip, or just goto
'file/save movie file' and save as : movie.wmv
when asked for 'movie settings' select 'other settings',
video for pocket pc (full screen 218 Kbps)
This will take some time to convert, but the video looks nice.
Don't forget to press the 'full screen' button on your winmediaplayer
(next to the volume bar) when playing the clip on yor XDA
Enjoy :)
thanks for the xda developer who tell me about windows movie maker... it works.. How about *.chm ?.....

.chm files are compiled html file. to be able to read this on your pocketpc, you will need to decompile it using htmlhelp compiler. this piece of software comes from the installation of microsoft's service pack 5.0 for visual studio 6.0.
try and search google for html decompiler or better yet, check microsoft downloads.
