Hi,

I have the QTEK1010 since early this year and was using GPRS since then and everything was fine but 2 days ago my operator in Lebanon Cellis just did a major upgrade to their GPRS System and now after that upgrade when turning the phone on the GPRS signal doesnt appear and cant make any connection. If i change the mobile let say i use the SE P800 GPRS works fine.

So far they couldnt help, if i get another GSM line from the other operator LibanCell with GPRS enabled the QTEK works fine and the GPRS signal appear so that assured me that the problem isnt from my device.

Those are my details:

ROM Version: 3.16.52 ENG
ROM date: 03/10/03
Radio Version: 3.23.01
Protl. Version: 32S54

So if you have any recommendations or anything please tell, should i maybe downgrade my RUU?

I have the same problem with Cellis. It started four days ago. I have a Qtek with the same versions as yours. A friend of mine, with a Qtek with the older software version, has also the same problem (with Cellis).
I called Cellis, and they said that they made some changes to their GPRS system last week, and since then, they had this problem with all Pocket PC Phones.
They told me they are working on it to solve it: let us hope they are competent enough!!
Has anyone outside Lebanon exprienced this kind of problem ?

Tekflow, hello my friend,

I just had a 2 hour meeting with Cellis chief Technical Department and have explained to him everything and we did some testings. Unfortunatly till today Cellis never got a QTEK or XDA for its R&D in order to test its services on.

The changes that were made 3 days ago were a system upgrade for the GPRS a new version of the software they are using provided by Ericsson and it seems some parameters are missing wich led to this problem. Not only the QTEK but my Orange SPV isnt working and if you put the QTEK near a speaker or radio you will hear the sound the buzzing sound like when you hear it when there is an incoming call always and always its like the QTEK is trying hard to log on the GPRS signal and cant which is also leading to a huge power consumption.

Anyways what we reached after this meeting was a solution hopfully on Tuesday where a full report will be in place... but what i am scared of is that they would apply this solution fast enough... or we will be forced to get new mobiles. I will keep you updated.

All this problem is very weird.
I am sure that with little effort (and competence) it can be solved.
I hope we won't have to switch to Libancell!

Well, actually, I don't know, because during the week end my device was on the charger. I'll tell you tomorrow.
By te way, any news about this whole problem ? Cellis told me today that they are working on this with Erikson, and they are execting a solution this week. Meabnwhile, we continue to pay our GPRS fees, without being able to use it. Funny, isn't it ?
I wonder how Erikson can make such a mistake! Never heard of this outside Lebanon!!

Well its not Ericsson's mistake its Cellis's mistake from not providing Ericsson with the right parameters.

I just called Cellis and they told me that they are working on it but what is killing me more then paying and not using the GPRS is that the battery and they are admiting this in Cellis is being consumed more because the Operator is telling the phone that i have GPRS and the phone cant get a signal so its on constant search for network or GPRS.

this is bad those past 4 days are baaaaad

keep me updated

Answering your question about battery consumption, it is yes, definitely.
The device is consuming nearly 50% more!
Any (good) news from Cellis ?

Yes good news from Cellis is that they promised me that thy will have this service running by tomorrow MAX.

They managed to make it work for 2 hours yesterday night under a testing period but the bad news is that they dont know whats causing this problem and like they have no idea that users on Cellis actually uses such devices.

Anyways i managed to send a QTEK for Cellis Technical department to make the test need it in order to get this service up and running and they promised MAX Thursday everything will be ok... lets hope so.

i will keep u posted
