Please help - this is urgent. I need to get my XDA back to the original ROM. I have the latest ROM upgrade from O2 as a NBF file. I upgraded to PPC2003 and when I try to restore with the latest O2 nbf file I get an error message. I am about to purchase a card reader. Can someone please tell me if it is possible (please dont say I cannot go back!!)

Thanks

Bob,

This is only sugesstion; have you tried to go to O2 UK for their software update? They have ROM 3.17.03 and 4.21 both in exe files. It is alot more simple to run them.

I'm in the same situation. I have a MM/SD flash card, and am trying to do the same.

I tried to update the ROM, and now the SX56 is stuck on
"Upgrading, this will take about 5 minutes"
I can't get it to connect to my PC now.

I CAN get into the wallaby bootlaoder (v 5.15)

I've tried to copy a NBF file (and other files) to the MM Card.
Then boot to the bootloader. But then I'm stuck. I don't know how to execute the nbf file on the MM/SD card to re-install the system.
Any ideas?

To restore your PPC2002 back from WM2003, you have to manually reflash it using the Bootloader method (http://www.xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1717&sid=9c86220298296ae0dca6f2cb3a46e40a)

There is an error if you try to use the ROM Update Utility to downgrade to PPC2002

Excelent Information ! ! !
I'm getting close!
I guess my problem is now, is that
I only have a nbf file, and not an nb1 file.

Where can I obtain a nb1 file?

You can write either an nb1 OR an nbf file from XDArit. Make sure you select the correct file-type from the pulldown menu.

I'm so close I can smell it.....
But whenever I try to "write it" to the MMCard using XDArit,
I get the message
"Failed to Open device \\.\PhysicalDrive27"
I've even tried another reader, and a different USB ports.
(I have usb1.1 and usb 2.0)
And I can copy files over to the MMCard in Windows.
But it can read it just fine, whenever I extract from the MMCard.
Any Thoughts?

what version of XDArit are you using? if it's 1.2 try using 1.0.....

My version is 1.0.2.0
I am not able to locate another version.

Get xdarit 1.0 from www.yorch.net.

Hope you can get it. If not, I can send it to you, where should I send it to?

that's because your cradle is connected to a USB hub, connect the cradle to the computer directly and the problem should be solved.

After I had install the new WM 2003 rom, i have so much problem and try to reinstall back the 1.1 edited version.
After a few push here and there, I found out that in the 1.1 rom there is a start (MS-Dos batch file and adapt rom) and this file can help me to reinstall the 1.1 rom back to my XDA unit under windowsXP.
Double click the Adapt rom then start and it will run the update.

Hope this will help others that stuck in the process trying to go back from 2002 rom.

Yes, I'm in KL too. I went to that shop also. It also give me a shock when I first saw that shop, but you need to go up to 1st floor which the O2 repair centre is. but make sure you reinstall all the original OS before you send your unit in. if you had flash the radio rom to 4.21, I think it will be a bit difficult to flash back to the 4.17 original one. I had try flashing this rom back but it always stuck at 1% and it will not go any futher.

I don't know what is the problem with your unit so I really don't know how to help you ?
Tell you a bit of my unit problem. When I first bought the unit I was so happy with it, give me confident that this will be a good buy. but nightmare came after a week.
1st - problem is the contact will not pop out if I press the button.
2nd - problem after I sync with my PC some of the application will not work if I don't do a soft reset.
3rd - Loss of radio signal and can't do any thing unless I do a soft reset.
4th - Sparking sound when I call out or in between a call conversation.

Hey I'm running at clean OS, but the problem still there. So I sent the unit to the sunway repair centre. You know what! they also don't know what to do with my unit. only help me to flash my unit rom and told me that maybe this will help. after I left the shop the problem came back again, that's where I found this XDA-Developers web site that really help me a lot after flashing my unit to the developers v1.1 ( Thks alot guys you are the best ). some of the problem is gone now, but the sparking sound is still there.

Anyway Hope you will find somebody here can help you with your problem. Sorry about my english.
