View Full Version : Trouble Changing SIM-Cards

I have a SIM-unlocked XDA which I use on a Vodafone account in UK and various local providers in Africa, so I swap SIM cards back and forth a lot. I have a lot of trouble changing cards. It usually involves a full reset before the new card will work. And only when the phone is in its cradle, on mains charge (even when it is already fully charged). I have upgraded the ROM (from the O2 site) to 3.17.03 and the radio version to 4.21.00, but this has made no difference. Any advice gratefully received.

When you open the sim door, that resets the radio. The door is a bit tricky to get fully closed. Try rubbing your thumb up and down the closed rubber door a few times to make sure it is fully closed.

You should probably also try a sim writing device that lets you read several sim cards (accounts) into your PC then write the account details all onto one super sim card. This avoids the sim swap, which the XDA is obviosuly not good at. I am experimenting with one now and will let you know how well it seems to work.

Thanks for the advice. I've noticed there's also a "SIM Tool Kit" icon that appeared when I installed the new version of the ROM and radio stack, but I get no response when I tap it. Should this program be any use? You will gather I am not that technically advanced.

(A super-SIM would be great, but I also, ideally, need to be able to use new cards straightaway in new countries, eg as bought at gas stations on the border...)

I just know that rubber door is going to break off one of these days.
