Hold down the on/off key while pushing the soft reset button with stylus...when bootloader appears, push the top right button on xda, you can switch bands from there.

is there any other way to switch bands without going through the bootlaoder...it is not really practical when traveling as the thing hard resets itself and you loose all the data and have to RESTORE if you have your laptop or something..
isn't there any software that switches the band????

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you do an SD backup, then go to the bootloader and change the band, then reset and reload from the SD, it should be fine, right? I know if you're changing ROMs the backup is worthless, but in this case it shouldn't be a problem, should it?

true about the SD, but for some reason every time I travel something goes wrong with my SD, suspecting the airport scanners? so I decided to lean more on activesyn and my laptop. It is still very inconvenient the non existence of the band tap...I cant figure out one good reason why it is not there???

Yeah, it's a bummer it's not there :(

However, just copy the SD backup to your laptop harddrive. That way, if the scanner craps out your SD, you've still got the backup (you don't need an SD reader, either, just ActiveSync the whole way). It's not like a ROM image; it's a normal file.

I suggest you upgrade to a later ROM!
Just in case you haven't found out already entering boot loader may hard reset your device under WM2003, so do a backup first.

I guess that's a good idea..but since I am going to access my laptop anyway what are the main advantages of copying the SD restore file over simply restoring through activesyn? is this faster???

Qman:
you are every where on all the websites..probalby you are the most famous guy for the pocket pc industry..I have been looking in other sites like pcpassion ...and there you are...I really admire the amount of effort that you put into the forums to help others...thanks a million...

as for upgrading to another Rom this has been in mind the problem is I am very new to all of this and honelsty reading more threads confuse me more. I want someone to tell me the EXACT steps of upgrading from my current version. as I understan that my version is locked and cant be upgraded or something???

Qman I also need your help on this weired bug..I can receive sms but can't send them..tried most of the tricks of changing +codes to trying from simcard to sending directly from the the outbox..nothing is working...the weired thing is when I change the sim card to another service provider;everything just works fine????

 Any clues here..?? could this be the radio version or the rom?

thanks in advance...

Yes the SD backup/restore is a lot faster and really is the only way to go.
BTW Pocket Backup Plus is what I use.

Yea as far as the other forums goes, I try and give help where help is needed and thanks for the kind words.

As for the EXACT steps for upgrading the ROM I got that too and will include it at the end of this post, its a little outdated but its what I use.

As for the weired SMS bug been there seen that and the only thing that fixed it for me was a hard reset.

Qman's how to use XDArit to write nk.nb1 or nk.nbf to your SD card aka the Bootloader Method!

1. Place XDArit and the nk.nb1 or nk.nbf file in the same folder and start XDArit.
2. Select your SD card (disk drive) from the drop down menu.
3. Select Write to SD

Notice that the Windows CE box is already checked so just click the browse button at the end of that window.

4. Select your (nk.nb1 or nk.nbf) image and then Open

Notice by default XDArit will open looking for a *.nb1 file but if you're going to use a .nbf file you'll have to manually change the "Files of Type" to *.nbf

Notice that nk.nbo / nk.nbo was automatically added as your boot-loader and its check box is unchecked so leave it that way and click OK. XDArit should start writing to the card.

When XDArit has finished writing the image put the SD-card into the XDA and hold the power button and soft reset. You'll be taken to the below screen:

SD DOWNLOAD
Card Type:
CE OS & BOOT
Press action to Download
Or
Press REC to Exit

Press action to download and it will start the download/restore from the SD card.

Follow the on screen instructions once its "Completed" which will consist of a "Soft Boot/Reset".

BTW the above is based on using XDArit version 1.0 which can be download from the software section at:
http://www.yorch.net and a PCI USB 3-One Travel Flash reader P/N FPT-D bought at Fry's.

I suggest you upgrade to a later ROM! Well, OK, but T-Mobile's 4.00.16 doesn't have the band selection option either. Good thing I grabbed a copy of my original ROM first...

Thats real strange, because every T-Mobile ROM that I've used has that option. What Radio Stack are you running, maybe thats the key!
