Hi, I have a T-Mobile MDA with the T-Mobile Rom 4.00.10 ENG in Austria/Europe. Radio Version 4.21.00 of O2 Germany. And use a network operator in Austria (Telering) operating on 1800 MHz.
Here is what happened. Everything was perfectly fine, until I did all the "official updates" of T-Mobile (OS+radio) which wrecked my MDA. After really getting into the subject and 5 cooked roms at jeffs kitchen and SD bios replacements, I finally got the thing working again. I am using the combination in the first line (o2 + Tmobile) which "kind of" works fine. Here is the deal: Using operator A1 (900MHZ) everything is perfectly fine. Using Telering (1800MHZ) everything seems fine for about 30 minutes, then the signal indicator still says there is a connection, the green light blinks, BUT if you make a call it fails with not available, or if someone phones me he gets to the voicemail. Interestingly I figured out that under PHONE/BAND options only 900/1900 is available, while non is selected. THE ROM I USED IS the T-Mobile GERMANY rom. I also used the band selector method in the bootloader to select 1800 MHZ which i need. It is obvious that the system operates on that band, as I do have a connection, but it drops it. Any ideas? Thanks a million guys, Matt

Found out some more... The official T-Mobile update on the Tmobile website in Germany actually includes TWO different nbf files. It checks what you have installed. Number one is a English 4.x version Number two is a german 3.16.45 version.

Again, I still encounter the problem on 1800 MHz, any ideas?

hi, as it seems, using the original german 3.x bios of their germany website (not the english nbf which is also included in the file) also the 1800 MHz band works perfectly fine. No matter which 4.x version I use I encounter the problem (e.g. from the german O2 website, Jeffs Kitchen and so on). It does not seem to be a radio problem (now I use the latest of the german o2 website) but the interaction with the main OS. So no 4.x version for me here in Austria on 1800Mhz. If anyone ever solves this issue or has a MDA on 1800 Mhz running with a 4.x OS please let me know via PM. Thanks everyone. Logging off. M :)

where did you get the phone from ?
T-mobile USA or T-mobile Germany ?
T-mibile USA Pocket PC phone is GSM 900/1900 phone, so you cannot work on GSM 1800!

Hi, it was a mobile of TMOBILE GERMANY. And as such a 900/1800MHz phone. So this is why it actually works on the 1800Mhz band. Havind said that with the German T-Mobile Rom of the german website using the SECOND NBF, which is in english, you get a rom which seems to be for the US, as it is a version 4.x (not for resale, test only) and showing 900/1900 Mhz in the band options....

Strange though that this flash is offered to the European customers, cause if you have a english rom underneath it will automatically install this english version.

Anyway, I switched to the german version using bootloader and everthing is fine now. Still use the O2 radio stack.

I bought a Sx56 as aAt&t unlocked phone, now I need to change it to bandwidth 1800Mhz that we use in Brazil. I read in this forum model PW10A works in 900/1800mhz I think I just need to use the right BIOS, anyone here knows what bios I should use? Thanks.
