as i see it the xda both 1 and 2 are pda's with cellphone
and pXXX is a cellphone with some pda stuff

guess it all comes down to
du you pref windows CE or symbian

personaly i like CE because i can get tons of software for it
and make software for it myself

and xdaX's display is bigger

but at the end of the day it's a matter of taste

Now, now... Symbian doesn't suck.

We did some development for it a while ago (on the Nokia 9210). And yes, I can say forst-hand that the Symbian consortium has been bad about provding information to developers. But despite the (mostly organizational) flaws, in some ways Symbian is a nicer OS than WinCE/PocketPC. For instance in dealing with low-memory (= low-cost) platforms, in providing snappy user response or in having long figured out all the phone things that only recently have been done somewhat right on the XDA (volumes, ringtones, sms, etc.)

Anyway: OS-wars are sooooo nineties. A true hacker can do his magic independent of the underlying OS, and only those that know they can never master more than one OS will fight to defend theirs.

And yes: I'm getting an XDA-II. I wouldn't want the P800 as a PDA. But to be honest, there have been times in my life where the XDA has really sucked as a phone (not 100% reliable in signal aquisition, hangs sometimes), and the display does get smudged with ear-grease (or am I the only one...).

Yeah, thats my only qualm with the xda that I have! Its just such a hassle to clean the screen again after making calls. They could have done it the 9210 style, with the mic and earpiece at the back of the device. luckily I have a brando screen protector, so i don't worry when i wipe the screen with my shirt!

Cheers! :D

>>grease on the screen<<
Is it so hard to hold at an angle to the cheek when talking?
I do this automatically now and it makes the mic works better, no grease :)

Hello guys ...

I don't think this battle will end soon (remember Win and OS2  )

Anyway, I found the XDA too risky to be used while driving ... even with car kit ... too hard to call someone not in the speed dial list ... I still keep a Nokia for the car times.

One thing I would add to the comparison criteria, maybe it's only personal  but I guess that XDA generates more radio waves which can cause faster headache than a phone like Nokia or SE may do.

Does anyone have a way to make this measruing ?

a gsm phone only send on the fequency's that gsm use

so what can cause headaches is how many watts it send

not sure if the xda use more watt then a std cellphone
but to measure it you need pretty high tech and expensive equipment
