I'm thinking about installing this new one. Has anyone done it? Have any thoughts yet? I'm kind of disappointed they removed AIM from there. Nice to have that in ROM. Saves some storage memory.
Anyway, if anyone has any reports on stability, etc, let's hear it.
Also, does this one come with another radio stack?

seems ok for now. no radio in the distribution we got (only nbf :) ).
from my poin of view it's wiser without aim because i can stick up more content suited to my needs.
no stability problems (though only 8 hours :) )

FYI
The hard reset after bootloader mode has been fixed if you want to count that, its a big plus in my book. 8)

It doesn't appear to be fixed, at least for me. Hard reset after bootlader is still exist.

I thought about upgrading to the new one, but everything's working just fine under 4.0.0.16, so maybe I'll stick with whats working for now.
Then I won't have to reinstall all my apps.

Why not just do a full backup, upgrade, and then just do a restore

Restoring from a backup after a ROM upgrade is not a good idea, because the older files will override the newer ones in-turn causing you all kinds of trouble.

Sorry to hear that mine is still holding strong with no hard setting, call me lucky I guess! :)
BTW anybody else not getting the hard reset after going onto the bootloader?

Hi All, i cooked up a .16 ROM in Jeff's Kitchen (thanks Jeff you are a legend).
Only 1 new problem with my device, it's the backlight....seems to turn off after the timeout even when i'm using my device.....strange. Never had this problem before.
I've also noticed that my problem with contacts not opening and having to sort reset the phone to resolve the problem is still evident. This has been with 4.00.01, .05 & now .16
Anyone got the above problems with .21????? I'm going to wait to upgrade, from what i can see the changes in the .?? releases are vendor apps etc.
Cheers
Steve
PS - i was brave and cooked up an exe install, it worked just fine.

I've had the .16 rom do that too me before also. Wonder if that's fixed in the new 4.0.0.21? Hmmm

The problems I've been noticing since this upgrade are slowness, the occasional freezing, and loss of signal (more so than before). I might try re-installing to see if this helps at all.

After having no problems since Friday, I noticed the same issues happening to me last night...
The backlight turning off on me while I'm using it...a soft-reset solves it.
Other apps freezing resulting in me to do a soft reset.
I never had these problems w/.16, so I'm considering switching back; however, seeing Ronin's post (http://www.xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2423&start=75):
I spent about 3 hours with a Microsoft Windows Mobile developer( from Microsoft) and he explained that our suspicions on Themes and hardware and SD resets are correct.
The versions of our T-Mobile and X2 WM 2003 were provided to T-Mobile in the early part of February. The OEMs worked on their versions to incorporate their unique "features" and there is a conflict in the way WM2003 Phone edition addresses memory calls (to ROM or SD cards)and WM2003 function.
The memory calls are typically made once a Theme switch is made. Remeber themes not only change Today's screen, but all other colors in the apps. Somehow, our WM PE overrides the memory allocation on the SD cards, renaming them and causing our erasures. This will sometimes happen when we get an SMS or have a custom ring or sound profile installed or after a soft reset.
So no solution for the issue other than " the lock" button. The default theme is a good alternative, but I suspect we will still have some more erasures related to this memory addressing issue.
Furthermore, it is unlikely that T-Mobile or other OEMs will fix the issue on their own volition...They are having many challenges with stable stacks and custom builds!!!
- I might just consider going back to v3.17 w/the ATT Radio stack

strange, i started developing problems with .21 yesturday too!
first the internet kept getting disconnected, i thought it was the GPS cozin it. but then at night the backlight started acting up. even when im using the device. a note on that tho, if i play movie clips, the light stayed on! it was a 12 minute clip, it stayed on the whole time, once it was over, light turned off.
also, i notice the gprs internet is extremly slower than b4 :(
i must say, the ONLY thing i like about 2003 is the media player, it has better video rendering, i wish they made it installble on 2002
nothin wrong with that version. heh

I'm with you on the media player AND the slow GPRS...it's r-e-a-l slow. I wasn't sure if it was worth mentioning but your account of it confirms it for me.

I updated to 4.0021. T-Mobile device bought in USA. I live in Europe.
Now I have band switcher, good GPRS connection (no breaks), auto-response.
One problem: some web page said me "you cannot open this page because your browser does not use cookies. please...." blablabla
?
I see this meeasge first time, previously PIE did it (shown) ok. I checked settings of PIE, cookies are running. Any ideas?

You know what, I've just done some connection tests at www.texan.net/speed.htm and I'm currently getting the following connection rates:
81.5kbps, 104kbps, 81.6kbps
I get these readings by going to that URL, and in a 10 minute period I would run a test twice at the beginning, then twice again on the 5th minute, and two more times on the 10th minute, using the 2nd reading each time (in order to get the reading with a cleared cache).
- with these speeds (I'm used to similar readings on my other WM2k3 PPCs and connecting via Sprint's CF2031) pages come up so quick, but on my T-Mobile MDA, running WM2k3 v4.00.21, w/RS6.24, plus my new 64MB onboard RAM from PPCTechs.com and 3 bars on the meter, pages are rendering much s-l-o-w-e-r than what they should.
Going back to either 4.00.16 or even 2k2 is starting to look even better right about now.

Since I upgraded to .21 I do not receive all my calls and do not getting some SMS messages.
I'm testing it until friday and if it keeps this way i'm going back this weekend to .16 which was very very stable and I liked very much.

Well its only been a day but I have really seen any issues with 4.00.21 personally. I rarely use GPRS but when I have it seems to work just fine, POP3 works fine, and I personally feel things are quicker now then they were before in relation to GPRS and the internet. However, I also just switched from Tmobile to ATT service and well at least for me and where I am the ATT service has been an amazing difference and may account for why I feel things are better now.
I dont seem to have any issues with missing calls, or SMS messages. Then again, before I ever upgraded my Tmobile phone and was on tmobile server I seemed to drop calls all the time, not get calls which instead went straight to voice mail, and never get SMS messages or voice mail notifications.
So like I said, just by my switching to ATT has probably made things positive for me and it probably has nothing to do with this 4.00.21 ROM I installed.

- well check this out, after being disappointed with the speed of the .21 build, I went back to 2k2 early last week...but I liked some of the conveniences of 2k3 enough to give the .21 build another try last Friday. Everything was fine, and GPRS started to work great for me again - until I uploaded a very tiny Excel spreadsheet (5 rows, 6 columns of data) to my SD card via a reader. I loaded the card (forgetting to slide the lock, damn!) and attempted to open the file via File Explorer and poof - my card is blank!

By auto-response you meant auto pickup, do you? When I read it first I was happy that it has an answering machine... :( I will cry...

No matter what ROM I use, there seems to be issues...
I had the same problem with SD cards erasing using ROM 4.00.16...happened three times.
Activesync worked poorly under .16 and Activesync 3.7.1. Syncing was unrealiable...sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't...I needed to constantly reset my PPC. 3.00.14 was a little better but it too has troubles. Maybe Activesync just s*cks...I'm not sure. All I know is that my Palm never had as much trouble syncing things.
CLC Journal, an Outlook Journal syncing program, stopped syncing using .16 (Activesync would just close when it reached this plug-in...although this could be a WM2002 vs. 2003 issue).
I like WM2003 but am really concerned about reliability. Wm2002 seems more stable at the moment.

With help from Qman I was able to load the 4.00.21 ENG with Radio stack 6.18.00. After installing all my apps and tweaking it just like I wanted it, I went to see which bootloader I have, v5.15, and when I exited BAM! hard reset.
Thanks again Qman!

That's what I did since I didn't have a card reader, I cooked up a ROM from Yorch.net, downloaded the 4.00.21 from Yorch as well, opened the exe with Winrar and extracted, replaced the .nb1 file with the 4.00.21, and ran the batch file. Other than the hard reset after exiting the bootloader, everything works great after two days with the .21.

Is going from an ATT stack to a TMO stack considered doengrading since they're different? If not, is it possible (with out massize amounts of drama) to go from ATT A.20.10 to TMO 6.18?
and if any one has link or might be able to upload RSU for TMO 6.18, Id be greatly apprieciated

ok new question
if I go back to TMO ROM v. 3.14, will the RS go back to 6.14 or whatever it was originally packaged with?
and from there, which ROM upgrade came with 6.18...was it 3.17? and if thats so, where can i get the link for it, or can i just use the EXE file option from the kitchen?
BTW: got the radio shack GPS working, an its great 4 $30.00, except for all the 2nd degree burns i gave myself on my fingers
