is it possible to upgrade the ROM to a bigger size, like the 48m some ipaqs have?
if so, wouldnt i be able to cook More programs into rom?
this way i wont have to reinstall everythin every time i hard reset.
anyone tried it?

Not possible as far as I know. Even if it was, the rom of the XDA is only 32 megs so it wouldn't fit anyway.

I've been thinking about it. I have access to the tools to get it done, I just need to confirm it won't cause any trouble.
My big hesitation is that I'm not a programmer so I wouldn't be able to modify a kitchen to allow me to 'overload' the ROM. If I can stick it in there, would anyone volunteer to assist me in building a .NBF to try and use it?

The best guys to check with are PocketPC techs, they've been doing RAM & ROM upgrades for PocketPC's for quite a while.

Currently they only seem to offer ROM updates for the Compaq iPaq 3600 series. They do offer a RAM upgrade for the XDA to 128Mb, but that's all.
I'm guessing that as none of the more recent PocketPC models have been included in the ROM update a specific technical problem must be involved. Might pay to drop them an e-mail.
