Hands free and main phone speaker

Having a major issue with my hands free kit in as much as when i plug it in it now shuts off the main phone speaker which it never used to do, this now means that i have to keep the head phones in my ear to hear an incoming phone call. Does anybody know where the setting is to reactivate the main phone speaker when the hands free kit is used? Ive already tried all the new rom upgrades and initialy this cured the problem unti i resored the information on the phone and it returned to not working whilst headset plugged in pllllleeeeeeaaaaaaaaassssseeeeeeeeeee somone help me before i discover what the terminal velocity of an XDA is

Please explain what you mean by "until you restored the information"?

The information was restored from the last back up i made to active sync, however i have tried a hard reset to no avail (even before i restore the main phone speaker remains inactive when the headset is plugged in) and also tried to reinstall the rom upgrade again also to no avail
