Looks a simple, if you have a steady cutting hand !

Ordered and recieved a "Ghost Sim Type 'c' " from mobileplace.co.uk (£16 inc p&p).
It fits (just) and switches sims when you "Turn Wireless Off" and then "Turn Wireless On".
Cutting SIMs was just a little too risky for me - I can't cut bread straight! so this this is ideal.
Enjoy.

Sounds good bro! Just ordered one myself. Can you be connected to both lines and networks at the same time- for example can you receive a call from either number at any time?

No, you can only recieve or send on one at a time. But it is a doddle to switch between the two - either soft reset (mmm), or turn phone off then on again, on the signal strenth icon (new ROM on i-Mate calls this 'Flight Mode').
It works for me. One for Work and one for Personal.

Anybody know if this works in the US?

Ian,
how did the dual sim holder fit inside the XDA II. Was it a tight fit ?

Yes, it is a little tight:
o The Sim will not lock but is held in place when the battery is in
o The dual ghost that sits between the battery and cover is a bit of a squeeze, but it is made of some sort of foam, so does work and the cover will lock in place
Mine is fine and has not affected the XDA itself.

what is the difference between the various types? (A, B, C D...)
Do you fold the flat cable (between single sim and dual sim slots) at 90 degrees to get it to fit under the battery?

from what I know the battery sits over the strip and then you loop the cable and sim holder over the side of the battery and it sits on top of the battery.

I believe the type determines which end or side of the sim the cable comes out of.
This picture should help - sorry about the quality, but you will get the idea.

How did you manage to get the sim in the holder, the large dual sim holder would have to have gone thru the bottom of the hinge of the sim holder on the xda ?
I'm confused.

If you support the connection to the mother board, the sim holder 'pops' out of its holding lugs very easily. You can then put the sim in from the 'wrong' end and then 'pop' it back.

so can this ghost sim be used with an XDA I then? or is there a different soulution for the XDA I.

Sorry, I don't know, but....
I guess it depends how you can get the ghost sim cable to exit the sim card and wrap over the battery.
On the II, to get it to wrap around the battary, then the cable must exit the sim at its base:

If the 'I' has the 'cut off' edge of the sim at the bottom left (when inserted) and the right hand side of the sim is close to the right hand side of the unit, then I cant see why not. Its just a matter of 'fit' rather than technology.

I have two voice Gsm numbers in one simcard and I used to change from one to another using simtool kit . but then I upgrade my i-mate Rom(from carrier device) to new version of carrier device . then the prb starts. now if I want to move from one number to the other I ahave to do a soft rest after I choose the number. I cannot navigate between the numbers like I used to. I changed my Rom to T-mobile 1.6 thinking it will solve the prb but the prb still remains. can any body help. Beside I am intersted in knowing how to clone sims

Hi,
Have you tried just turning the phone off (Turn on Flight Mode), then turn it back on (Turn off Flight Mode). I do not have the numbers in one SIM, but it works for me with a ghost sim.

Thank u IanF , it works by Turning off Flight Mode and then turn it back off . But is there any way of just navigate from simtool kit and change from one number to another (like I used to do before the upgrade) without turing the flight mode on and off

So how do you clone sim cards?
I bought the phone with O2 UK who unlocked it for me and now use a Orange sim with it as well... Is cloning sim cards hard?
Also am looking to upgrade the ROM. Can anyone point me to how to upgrade to an english ROM that will work in the UK?
Thanks )

Iain F - with the ghost sim C I just can't close the back properly. What am I doing wrong?

Hi,
My dual sim is laid at an angle with the top just clear of the locking lugs and the cable at the side clear of the sliding back.
I then lay the imate face down and slide the back on while pushing down, making sure the sides slide into place properly.
Try it without the sim in place, then with? I found the back a bit of a pain to get on/off anyway, but, and I know it probably does not help, but mine is fine.

I am also using the dual sim from mobileplace. Getting the back on is a squeeze but it can be done.
Switching between sims is a pain.
Are there any software developers interested in writing a small program to allow switching from one sim to the next ?
I know this can be done by turning the radio off and back on again (and more quickly by changing the profile to flight and then back again but a single button or two buttons as a Today plugin would be really useful.
Button 1 would turn the flight profile on and off with one press
Button 2 would turn the flight profile on and off Twice with one press

The MDA is a quite advanced device. Shouldn't be possible to simulate a SIM card using software?
Something like, make a hex-dump/bin-dump form the sim
Write a small and fast phone emulator or hookup the bin/hex file to the hardware using a software interface.
Don't forget, there is a difference between impossible (can't be done technically) and a lot of work (can be done but takes TIME and MONEY).
But correct me if I am wrong

To be able to simulate a SIM card, you first need to get the details of the SIM and since every (AFAIK) service provider in the UK uses the advanced form of encrypting the SIM (K1 values I believe) which to date has (unfortunately) not been broken yet, it's nigh impossible to simulate or copy UK SIMs. So far I've only been able to copy SIMs from O2 from like 3 years ago; Voda seems to have used this advanced form of encryption even earlier as I haven't been able to copy any of my Voda SIMs
Bear this in mind before you buy any sim clone kit.
