I have a Jabra freespeak BT250 on order but from the threads it doesn't seem like its worth the hassle (problems maintaining the connection, lost calls etc) . Any recommendations for a BT headset that works flawlessly with XDA II. :?:

The problem in this case is not the headset :(

Even though its not perfect, don't despair.
Bluetooth is worth it - and I'm sure they'll get a patch out soon.
That is one reason everyone if beefing about it here - hoping O2 and T-Mobile are listening.

Yes, I bought a jabra 200 with my XDA-II.... ok so when ever the headset is turned off or most of the time when it is recharged you have to rebind the BT connection.... so what I say, I love it and cant be without it.

I'm using the Plantronics M3000 which works very well (no binding problems). The only functionality that doesn't work (and I guess the PPC doesn't implement it) is press the call button twice to redial the last number. Aside from this it picks up calls/ends calls perfectly, has 8 hours of talktime and only cost £45.

I have the Jabra BT 200 and I can get all the incoming calls to work fine but I cant get it to work with any outgoing calls. After i dial the number and it connects, I press the button on the headset but it wont transfer the call. I have the headset profile enabled in the today screen. Has anyone gotten both incoming and outgoing calls to work with the BT200?
I use the Sony Ericsson HBH-65, and this combination works like a dream!!!

Don't press the button on the headset when making the outgoing call. If you use the green button, it should show something like "headset in use - press here to select phone" in a popup (I have the German version, so I don't know the exact english text it shows).
You should then hear the voice over the headset.
If you press the button on the headset it basically terminates the call.

Ok....Thats strange....I was going to try what tbd had suggested but now it just works without touching anything!!! Now whenever I initiate a call it AUTOMATICALLY sends it to he headset without me touching the green button or the headset. It also transfers it very fast. I don't know why it didn't work yesterday but it does now. :D

GOOD choice!
I am using it now, and it is REALLY GREAT!
The speaker quality is the best , the mic quality is not very good in noisy / windy environment (same as almost all bluetooth headset), because it is not directly pointing to your mouth, but works perfectly in a quiet environment.
I love it very very much!

Just received my QTEK 2020 and Cellink BT Headset (BTHS6023) 9 grammes only.
Working perfectly I can answer to an incoming call by pressing the button on the headset.
When dialing a number automatically the headset goes on to be able to speak throw the headset without pressing a any button on the headset.
To hang on any call just press 2 seconds the headset button.and the line is cut.
GPRS with french orange is OK. I have not tested a VPN, but with my ancient IPAQ 3870+GPRS jackett I could manage to do it.

I have been using a Jabra BT 250 for a week now and it works flawless.
I don't know where the mentioned problems come from, but I cannot share them. Very comfortable, very good sound, 8 hrs. talktime and 200 hrs standby and the headset profile works fine with my MDA II.

I also have the Plantronics M3000, and guys I have to say something it’s better than my Jabra BT 200, the voice quality is really excellent. Concerning the bonding issue; well if I turn the M3000 off I have to create a new bonding all over (same case wt Jabra), so I am a little surprised how it works for you?
It would have been great if the redial feature would work  , but as it seems it’s a problem with the Imate rather the headset.

Been using the Jabra BT200 headset from my old XDA kit with no problems at all. Absolutely flawless performance. I was expecting to have to buy another headset. Have also tested the XDAII with the BT250 (no problems) & Motorola HS810 (no problems). Had problems with the Nokia HB-2 headset (binding issues wouldn't stay connected)
the Jabra Freespeak 250 works perfectly.
NO PROBLEMS what so ever.
£79.99 from O2
expensive but perfect.
I have had no problems while using it. None.
Hands free profile would be good on the XDA2 tho as the 250 is compatible.

I am proud to announce my first entry in this awsome Forum
I just got the XDAII Today and am am using a BlueTrek G2 Headset i bought last week in Poland. It is running great, no bounding Problems, excellent speaker quality and people are able to understand me without any problems.
The optic of the device is the best I have seen so far and its very comfy to wear.
In my opinion its definitly worth buying!

Am thinking of getting one of the headsets myself. Do any of them allow you to answer the phone from the headset without having to touch the phone? Anyone have any good reason to buy one unit over another? Thanks for helping me decide which one to get.
I have the Plantronics M3000 and i can answer WITHOUT touching the phone. Also if i switch off the headset and turn it on again - i don't need to do anything it's working again!!

I have a Jabra 200 that I was originally using with the dongle on my xdaI. Been using it on my xdaII since October and have never had any bonding problems that are mentioned here so often. Just press the button on the headset to answer calls - leave xda in pocket and call automatically discounts when the other caller clears. Dial a number on the handset and the Jabra turns on automatically. I would definately recommend a BT headset to anyone.

Yes, there is! The best I've tried is the luetooth headset from Logitech. Better than Jbra, although it is bigger than JBT-200 it works flawlessly with the XDA2

When you say, "work properly" do you mean able to answer calls, end calls etc, I have a Sony ericcson HBH-200 and it works fine but cant use the caller id features etc, I also found out that it works at the same time as Tomtom 2 using bluetooth receiver.

The Natty Ericsson HBH20 BT works fine on the XDA2. I hate the BT receivers that hang on your ear, this clips onto your pocket. I can also answer calls use the button on the headset, even though I was told that the XDA2 does not support Handsfree. I cannot call without using the Green button however.

Hi All,
PLEASE - bear in mind with the Sony Ericsson headsets that newer models NO LONGER WORK with the XDA II / iMate. There's been firmware changes on these and Jabra 200 headsets that now move away from the proper BT profile specification!!!
So... If one Jabra 200 or Sony Ericsson HBH65 works, then the next one probably won't!
Often the best bet is to stick with a "full spec" ie. generic solution and avoid the Sony Ericsson and Nokia headsets that have proprietary "tweaks" to suit their respective handsets...
The Jabra 250 is meant to be an improvement over the old 200 problems - But only time and testing will tell here.
We've tested dozens of the generic variety (and have landed on the Bluetake GII 400 as the best of the lot we tested).... and most of these work well..
Most of the Plantronics headsets work too.

McCanic - I'm afraid that the current revisions of HBH65 do NOT work with the iMate / XDA II.
There's no solution but to return it at this stage.
Anyone giving a "blanket" thumbs up for the HBH65 should be hung-drawn and quartered! Models produced before about October last year worked fine. Any of the current stock don't.
All of the current Nokia headsets also have a time-out bug... So! You're left with the generics.

I have the Jabra BT200, but am returning it today.
Mine is a "04c" type, and reception is very very poor, i can have the XDAII in my left pocket, headset in my right ear, and reception is rubbish, cracly, and breaking up.
If i leave the phone , and walk away, i lose reception at maybe 4 metres, at 2 metres reception is very poor.
I dont have any bonding problems as some people report.

I just got my HBH-60 replaced with a new HBH-65 and it works albeit a few pecularities. That is I must switch the HBH-65 before activating the bluetooth on my XDAII. Secondly, if I end a call on my XDAII and not using the button on my bluetooth headset, I cannot receive subsequent calls on my bluetooth headset. Apart from this, no problems.

I changed the Jabra BT200 for a Logitech Mobile Bluetooth headset.
Reception is much clearer, all functions appear to work, it looks cool, comes with a pod that acts as a charging station, and is better / easier to wear for me.

Can you tell me whether the Jabra or Plantronics sounds better? I tested another bluetooth headset and everyone I called complained about background noise and that they could hear an echo of themselves when they spoke to me. I also found the sound quality poor. I'm looking for the best sounding headset with a really good microphone that filters out background noise well.

Andy, How are the Logitech bluetooth headsets compared to the Plantronics and Bluetake GII 400? Also, the Bluetake GII is quite expensive compared to other products!!

I have now had the Logitech headset for about 10 days, and have not encountered any problems so far, it works a treat, and i have not had te re-bond once.
The only annoying thing i have encountered is that if i want to sync with my PC (via bluetooth) i have to disable bluetooth, then enable it, not really a problem though, and only takes a few seconds.
Wearing the headset does take a bit of getting used to.

I have read some bad reviews about the MIC boom breaking off or being very flimsy. And to top it off, Logitech does not support that under warranty. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000YKA9M/ref=cm_cr_dp_2_1/103-8434315-5620642?v=glance&s=electronics&vi=customer-reviews

The boom seems pretty robust to me, and there was no reviews at the URL you posted.
I dont see how Logitech can refuse to repair any item if it is a manufacturing fault or a design fault, if on the other hand it is obvious that the boom had been broken off in an accident, you can't really blame Logitech for refusing to cover this under warranty.

xda2user,
I am taking a direct quote from the earlier link i provided from some of the "unhappy" customers. I have also read reviews on zdnet, cnet and other review websites about the mic boom.
Poorly designed product, March 1, 2004
Reviewer: An electronics fan from New York, NY USA
As with one other reviewer, I found the mike boom to be made in the most flimsy manner. By rotating too far in the wrong direction the wire breaks making the mike unusable. Logitech refuses to admit that the product is poorly designed and will not make good on their warranty if it the mike stops working. It is very easy to rotate in the wrong direction and go too far -- and then pfft!!
1 of 2 people found the following review helpful:
Mic Boom Breaks!, February 24, 2004
Reviewer: zibedzed from Littleton, CO USA
There is a major manufacturing defect in this product. There is very limited mobility on the mic boom, and the boom will easily break off the base of the headset with minimum pressure. I had my headset for 2 days before the boom just came off. Logitech did not design the boom for it to pop out under any pressure so you can simply reinsert it. Instead, the base of the boom will break and is unrepairable making the headset a $100 paper weight.
I was also extremely disappointed in logitech for not honoring thier warranty when I called them on this issue. They had no intention on helping me with the issue and claimed that I was the first to ever call in to complain about the issue.

I have been reading a lot of reviews about bluetooth headsets for XDA 2 online and I have got it down to two. Of course, I want only one, so if any of you could throw in your two cents to help me decide which one.
1. BlueTrek G2 (http://www.iseattlecommerce.com/merchant/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=bluepear&Product_Code=G2.1&Category_Code=G2)
2. Jabra BT250 (http://www.buy.com/retail/product_jump.asp?sku=90116764&SearchEngine=DealTime&SearchTerm=90116764&Type=PE&Category=Elec&dcaid=15891)

Rough usage may indeed snap the boom off, and you are right, it doesn't have any play in it, but it can be rotated 360 degrees without any problems.
If it is stored / used correctly i dont see how it can sustain any damage, and the boom should be OK.
Time will tell, but if the boom does fall off, then i will be raising merry hell about it (if Logitech adopt the attitude you say they do) , and would speak to consumer protection (UK) about the product not being fit for the purpose that it was sold for, and would suggest that anyone else living in the UK do this if Logitech refuse to repair under waranty any manufacturing fault.
