View Full Version : Serial GPSmouse - Qtek2020 Cable scheme?
Could someone with a working cable open it up and post the scheme here? I have a SerialGPSmouse-Qtek1010 Cable, but my supplier tells me that new cables for Qtek 2020 are necessary.
My Qtek 1010 CableConnector looks like this
if you hold cable=left to connector=right :
Bottom Up

19 : - 04 -
17 : Black (GND) 06 -
15 : - 08 Green (RS232_TXD)
13 : - 10 White (RS232_RXD)
11 : - 12 -
09 : - 14 -
07 : - 16 Black (GND)
05 : - 18 Black (GND)
03 : - 20 Red (V_ADP)

So you keep telling me, but i have strong reservations about this, I would just like to see the inside of a working cable.

Why ?
I would just like to see the inside of a working cable.
Well, i still use my XDA 1 Tomtom GPS cable and everything works fine, and i don't have a charge/decharge bug like some MDA/XDA II USB cables and carchargers...

I also use my old TOMTOM 1 Cable just as i did on my XDA-1 and it works just the same. I do get one error tho, when i plug the lead in it tells me it is trying to Activesync over GPRS WAP, (its dose not connet tho) after a few seconds this puts up a error about the com port not being availabe, i just close the error and use TOMTOM as normal, As far as i can remember the xda 1 omplained about something when first pluged in.
But i can it works and charges just as you would expect it to

Okay, maybe the pinlayout hasn't changed, but then something has changed on how they use the pins, maybe more pins than before must be connected , because : how would it be solved with a new cable, which is what my supplier tells me.
If anyone opens a working cable, which can easily be done with a paperclip, then i can see what is the difference between his and mine.

Afaik only the usage of audio-out changed (now works is pin 19 is grounded)...

I don't know, why do you believe your supplier instantly, and not us ?

Ok, here we go again, my opened and working cable looks like

Now open yours and look at the difference...
btw. my cable cannot be opened with just a paperclip, i need a screwdriver.... Maybe you just don't have a verry good cable, and you where just luky that it worked on de 1010/XDA ?

not instantly, that's the reason for this thread. And as soon as he has what he claims is a working cable, i will put it to the test,

Are u saying that your cable has all 22 pins connected?
Maybe you just don't have a verry good cable
very likely true, thats why i want to make it a good one by soldering all necessary pins.

best thing would be just to buy a decent cable.
A friend of mine tried to solder a new connector to his GPS cable.
33 Years old and soldering since hit 12'th, i don't think a lot of people cab do better, yes, he bought a cable...
found this on PPCW:
According to HTC there is actually no difference in the pin structure of the HTC Himalaya to the previous HTC Wallaby (xda 1)!

This is an article about USB, and talks about pin structure, not about pin usage. but would confirm what everybody (except me) is saying here.
Soldering skills aren't the problem, been installing mod chips in Playstations and those connectors are even smaller.

I understand, same goes for the friend of mine, stiil, the cable is pretty complex, E 35,- isn't worth the effort imho...
