Hi,

I've got a strange problem with my MDA 2. I'm using it in a O2-CarKit (bought about 1,5 years ago). If I just plug the MDA2 in the CarKit, everything is ok and the battery will be charged fine. But if I start TomTom-Navigator, the battery will not charge anymore and the MDA2 is loosing power. So it is not possible for me, to navigate with my pda for a long distance, because after about 2 hours navigating, the battery is empty !!! I've got a Holux GPS-Mouse connected at the CarKit (the way, it is described here in this forum).
So, tha battery won't charge, as soon as the GPS-driver is loaded. I also made a check with Navigon Mobile navigator, which is not compatible with my GPS-Mouse, but have the same behaviour. When I understood right, navigons gps-driver is always on and I've got the charging-problem all over the time, when navigon is installed.

My MDA1 works fine in the CarKit and charge the battery also when Navigator is active. Why not ma MDA2 ???

Can anybody help ??

thanks a lot
rob.

Read the forum before posting

On low Amp. cables the MDA doesn't charge if batt. is below 70%...

Yeah......but a car battery shouldn't be low amp. How the hell will they work with the new XDA II carkit?

No, this is a strange issue. I just came back to Holland from a 14 hour trip from Lucca, Toscane and IT DRAINED MY MDA II BATTERY COMPLETELY!

After getting it back on a 220V charger I had to perform a hard reset and an image restore (Hurray to Sprite Backup).

I read somewhere else it has something to do with the slightly different wiring of the interface as the XDA I. Somewhere there is a ground cable who drains the battery at the same time of charging. This means the battery does charge if the load is above 60% and there is no significant discharge.

But if I run TomTom and Yeti and GPRS the battery will drain like hell, even with the backlight turned off........

The XDA/MDA' s don't get 12V either. So probably they'll fix the powerrsupply/transformer....

Btw. my original Tomtom/O2 XDA cable works just fine ;)

I hope the "professional" carkit they offer at Expansys wil have a GPS interface.......

That's no longer an issue, now we can use Bluetooth
