Has anyone noticed that Tomtom 2.24 has problems with WM2003 on the XDA, after it's been run it gets rid of the small dot's used to select items (such as the ones next to On, Off, Vibrate on the Volume menu of the today screen) has anyone got a work around for this ? Only a soft reset seems to bring them back :!:
Cheers

There is no need to downgrade to 2002.
Just upgrade to TomTom 2.04 and GPS 2.08, format your SD Card and re-install the maps. Try to start without any additional POI files.
This should fix your problem.
After this, the TT 2 was running fine on my MDA with the 4.0.33 german ROM.

Upgrade to 2.04 ? But I am already using 2.24 :?: :?
My Dad has just got an XDA aswell, he's running the same rom as me (4.01.00 no extra cooked bits) and 2.24 with GPS 2.08 does the same on his.

I have the same problem on my MDA II, even after the ROM 1.60 upgrade: sometimes radio buttons and/or checkboxes just disappear. I don't think this is specific to TomTom, as I saw the same thing happen also while running other programs. It is also not reproducable, most of the time TomTom just works fine.
Doesn't bother me much though, as a soft reset is a matter of seconds. :-)

I found that tomtom 2.05 and gps 2.09 is the best marriage. Tomtom 2.24 does have some bugs such as after planning a journey it takes ages to go to the navigator map.

Is that with WM2003 ?
Tomtom's site states 2.24 adds PocketPC 2003 support but to be honest is didn't even try tomtom 2.05 i just upgraded it straight away.

Just put GPS 2.09 on and its nice to have the bar on the Today screen to launch tomtom, we'll have to wait and see if the problem with disappearing buttons still occurs, but it's been OK so far

I did not persevere with WM2003, it seemed to be very flaky on my XDA, I am sticking with XDA dev rom 1.2.

i followed all the examples bu i still had the missing radio buttons.
i tried every combo of updates and GPS versions. so i have kept the lastest versions.
however i have found a way to stop it occuring. it seems that the radio buttons only disappear after you launch the GPS software. i have avoided launching it and have used tomtom for a while now and the radio buttons have remained there. :)

Ashby, I dont thin tomtom do map updates as such, they release the new maps when the next version is released.

Yes, I kind of figured that. They hint on their website that map updates will be available when there data supplier gives them new data, but I suspect that they never will release an update and force you to by Navigator 3.
Bad show really.
A cool feature would be map editior, that way users can add new roads/ modify road layouts etc

I purchased the Navigator USA version about 8 months ago and just last month TomTom sent me an email stating that map updates would be available soon. I followed a URL in the email and signed up for the updates and within a week I has seven new cd's that contained all the updated maps.
I don't have any complaints. :D

Another confirmation on the radio buttons problem with TomTom. The problem is still there even with the latest version (2.24 & GPS 2.19).
But, I have been able to trace the bug down a bit. Can't prove it, but maybe others can confirm:
It seems the problem is related to the GPS-S/W. Whenever I change anythin on the configuration there, I lose the radio buttons until I do a soft reset. SPecifically when you change the COM-port, you lose the buttons.
We've been doing some GPS/NMEA S/W development around the serial ports ourselves. WM2003 has some ugly bugs in this area, such as hanging when you try to open a port that isn't configured or active).
But, as Microsoft points out: Its not a bug, its a feature (verify that the soft reset button still works)!! ;-)

On my Qtek 2020 I sometimes lose the radio buttons, but I can not reproduce that they are lost after changing the GPS configuration. It seems though, that after trying to change the GPS port configuration WM2003 is indeed lost/in error. E.g. the machine hangs when trying to make a phone call via speeddial.
Similarly I have problems in my car when using TT2.24 & GPS 2.09. Although I use a BT-GPS (Fortuna clip-on) the machine still wants to open a (not connected) com-port, obviously used normally for the wired GPS. I use a Brodit active holder with a TT cable. Often TT is not able after that to re-connect with the BT-GPS even with Towa's software installed.
Does anyone have a solution to avoid the machine to try and set up this non-existing serial connection?
Regards.
