Y'all have done wonders w/ this little machine, thank you so much for building a ROM w/ WModem.

3.17.03 Special Edition ROM w/ WModem
6.18.00 Radio version
TMobile serial cable w/ charger point
WinBookX2 w/ Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1

Before the cable arrived, I established an infrared link using the virtual com port drivers available here:
www.ircomm2k.de

This allowed me to connect to the modem using the Windows Modem diagnostics, but would immediately disconnect afterwards. Most of the ATI requests would return errors.

The TMobile serial cable arrived this morning overnight as promised, and I was able to establish a HyperTerminal session with the modem on COM1. It responded to ATe1 & ATq0, but little else. ATI requests returned mostly errors.

Followed 2 different methods suggested on this forum, one from the O2 site, another a close variation, but both return modem errors. Setting up the modem in Windows XP as a 33600 generic modem gives the same errors on diagnostics as I got over IR, ie, it takes forever to return, and gives mostly errors.

Tried the Wallaby Bootloader mode method, using the inf available here:
http://xda-developers.com/modem
No success.

Perhaps I have a bum modem, or the WModem program in the ROM is hosed? Or am I just missing a step? TMobile gives a 2 week return policy, and I have 3 days left. Beautiful machine, and y'all have done wonders here, but I'm ready to tear my hair out.

Gig 'em,

PS Thanks to all who have read this post and considered the problem. As I was unable to initialize the modem, I took it back to TMobile & cancelled the account. My next phone will probably be the Sony Ericsson T610 w/ Bluetooth, to connect to both a laptop and a Palm/WinCE handheld. Good luck to everyone, it's a wonderful phone & the follow on looks even better.
