Hi, folks.

I just got an AT&T SX56 and I'd like to be able to use it with my Cingular account. I cooked a 3.17 ROM from yorch.net and the rom took, but when I try to use the phone functionality, it prompts me to turn on the wireless radio, and then enter my SID. I called Cingular customer service and got the SID for my area (00035), but it claims that the entry is invalid. I have heard that there could be problems with the radio stack when moving from AT&T to Cingular, but I'm not really clear on what that is, even whether it is a hardware or software thing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

hi,

I didn't get you, did u upgrade successfully to 3.17 ? ... if yes, then it shouldn't ask you fot the SID code (try 8 zero's tho).

If the the upgrade failed then try the SD card method.

try to give more details.

Thanks for the reply, Biso007.

I think the xdaunlock program did the trick. I thought that the act of loading a new ROM would unlock the phone, but it didn't unlock until I used the xdaunlock flie.

My phone seems to function normally now.

Hi I just recently purchased a SX-56 and would like to use it on Cingular. I ran the unlock program and it tells me that there is no SID lock. When I put in my SIM Card the phone program picks up my number, but I can't seem to connect to the network. Any advice?

hi, i actually work for AWE and have an SX56. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this device will not work on Cingular's network. Cingular runs mostly 850 band gsm and this device only does 1800, 900, and 1900. it theoreticly will work on there roaming partners towers that are 1900 band, but that is only if it is unlocked and the 1900 band is less than have of there coverage. Hope this info helps.

Okay, so my only hope is roaming on 1900. Is there a particular Radio File I should be using (ie. T-Mobile or AT&T) to pick up the towers I can roam on Cingular with?

I am not sure, As far as I know, the phone just needs to be unlocked and it should pickup the 1900 band automaticly regardless of what sim is in it.
