Hi,
I just came across someone selling a Thera by Audiovox Pocket PC & Verizon Phone. Is this the same inside as the SX-56 etc? Front panel has 6 buttons for Call, Call-end, Calendar, Tasks, Home and one other I cannot read. Plus a single *joystick* button like the SX-56.

Can this be unlocked & upgraded just the same?

Pic attached.

Thanks in advance!
Rog

I have a Thera too. I want to know if it can be unlocked from Verizon.

From what I know, there have been some people that were able to "unlock" the Kyocera 6035 to use with Sprint, cause of course Sprint sold the phone as well. I am going to guess that you could in theory unlock or reprogram the Audiovox Thera to use on Sprint. You probably would have to get a rom file of the Sprint Toshiba 2032. Thats about the only thing I can think. I would imagine though you probably would only be able to use the phone function. Sprint and Verizon do have "unlockable" phones like a GSM carrier does. Someone else could explain it better. Hope that helps

The Thera is quite different from the XDA/SX56/PPCPE. In fact, it doesn't even run PPC Phone edition. Rather, it runs PPC2002 with some third party extensions to power the phone.

Interestingly, there is a NEW Thera supposedly coming out that will be manufactured by none other than HTC.

Ostensibly, this phone will look just like the wallaby, but will have a 16 bit color screen instead of 4-bit (which is my only major gripe with my wallaby). Plus, it will have more RAM and SDIO.

This is just what I have been waiting for, so when I say your reply I started my search. Below is one link I found so far (it looks just like the XDA).
