I've browsed this site for quite a while now and don't think there is a complete list of the best hacks apps and updates for the XDA 2 on a single thread. Starting from a scratch hard resetted machine what do you do to it to optimise performance for your standard user.... I'm a relative newbie so I only have a couple suggestions:

Install Towa's patch to improve bluetooth compatibility. (http://www.angeltowns.com/town/bluetooth/download_e.html)

Use ScaryBear's "Check Notifications" software to reduce slowdown over time. (http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_cn_overview.html)

Suggestions that others could post (I know many of these are covered in other threads, but having them in a single thread would be useful):

What start up items (if any can be removed) whilst maintaining functionality of the phone

Is there a program such as wisbar that works with the XDA 2 (without spoiling notifications)

Any other things worth mentioning?
