hi....ive installed the medion sat nav software [courtesy of one off the guys here!]..on xda1 running wm2003....i have a haicom gps connected, which is confirmed working. However the medion software cant find the gps......any ideas?....or is it totally incompatible, i know the medion unit comes with its own gps.

It runs on a pxa 250 processer running at 400 mhz, maybe it isnt compatable with the early arm processer, it comes with a standard serial gps so I dont think it is an issue with the gps.

I decided to try the medion program to see what the problem was, I am using xda1 with the siemens/att wm2003 upgrade, the software found the digitraveler gps right away, it is now showing 4 sats, it is set to com1, beams are switched off in settings/connections/beams. It works perfectly, the haicom should also work as it uses 4800 nmea settings for gps output so I have no idea why it wont work for you, it is a quite impressive piece of mapping software, I am going to trial it in the car tomorrow and se how it functions, it has me locked on to my address at the moment and looks very accurate while static which is a good sign.

Sounds like a good bit of software, could you let me know if there is anywhere I can get it on a trial before I buy ?
Cheers

I have found another anomaly with the Medion software. It was working fine on the XDA1 with WM2003, I then installed it to my xda2 using another 256 meg sd card made by Sandisk, it worked fine on the xda2, however when I try to use the sandisk sd card in the xda1 it will not bring up the names when trying to search for a place to naviagte to, I then tried a Dane Elec sd card and it worked fine in both the xda1 and the xda2. I find it very weird that a "Standard" exists for memory cards but in practice the standard is far from standard.

Hi,
I used the medion software with my XDAII ROM 1.72 and Dconnex DC-230 bluetooth GPS receiver, it worked fine with no problems apart from the annoying (make a U turn) when the software can't keep up with alternate route.
So I Had to go back to TomTom 2.
Still contemplating an upgrade to 3 or shall i wait for 4.

I've got the medion loaded along with tomtom3 and they're both running fine using my rikaline wired gps receiver.
The reason (as explained to me) that it won't work is that its tied into the receiver that comes with the medion (royaltek sapphire) and this has a slightly different set up.
To get mine to work I had to install Sirftweak from www.pocketgpsworld.com and also m/s visual basic. Then run Sirftweak and alter the VTG setting from 0 to 1.
Works for me but doesn't work for all gps receivers apparently.
DON'T alter any other settings
Good luck
