Hello,
My XDA I (ROM: 3.17.03 SER v1.2, Radio: 6.24.00) all of the sudden had a GSM failure this morning, which could only be solved by a hard reset, and I was wondering if someone could offer an explaination (or point me to one) of why this happened.
I read all through these forums for a solution before attempting the hard reset, and it appeared that most GSM failures were caused by failed radio upgrades, and weren't resolved by hard resets.
In my case, I have not had any upgrades lately, and the device was working beautifully as of this morning. I had been on the internet earlier, so I know it was working then. I only noticed the problem after transferring files to the XDA from my PC, then disconnecting it from the PC. It was running slow, the back light was flashing on and off, and I had no signal. The bootloader confirmed the GSM failure.
The only thing I can think of is that I have ActiveSync set to do an automatic backup of the RAM each time it connects, but this time I cancelled the backup (as I do many times when I'm in a hurry). The backup screen says not to use the device while it is backing up, but it seems like it is just a simple file transfer, and I've done it many times before without hurting the device.
Any thoughts on this?
