i did it!!i can t believe i managed to upgrade to the new t-mobile rom using xdatools without any problem.it went smooth like a glass of oil and now it reads:
ROM Version 4.01.16 ENG
ROM Date 02 04 04
Radio Version 4.21.00
Well done to me( ...and all those people working hard behind this site)!!
it was much less problematic and complicated than i expected and i d like to say to all newbies and not expert people same as me that if i managed to do that, everyone can.just spend an hour or two reading through all the posts in this forum and you ll learn how to do it.
Question: as soon as i soft reset my device there is this error message coming up in the today screen:"This program only works with windows mobile 2003 (4.20.1081).now what program is it referring to?if i press ok to that error window to close the message everything works fine and i don t really know where the error is.has anyone experienced the same?
thanks

Where did you download the rom? It is possible that if you cooked a rom in one of the kitchens you may have checked a program that will not run under wm2003 so when it atempts to initialise from rom it gives the error. Now you know how its done maybe you should cook another rom and pay particular atention to the additional software options available to you, if the text next to the program says 2002 only then it should be unchecked when building a wm2003 rom.

emm053,
I also posted this on the other thread, but thought I'd copy it here in case someone is interested as well:

Yes, I found the same problem. After a little trial and error, I found that the file wm03hotfix.exe in the Windows\Startup folder was the culprit. I moved this file out of Startup into a backup location (just in case), and the problem went away.
Don't know what this file is supposed to do, but I guess we don't need it.

"This program only works with windows mobile 2003 (4.20.1081)"
Had this problem also. what i did was remove the start up programs from the start up folder (all the t-mobile apps) and it doesn't come up any more... again this is what i did to remove the error. i'm not sure this remove it from your XDA.

I had the same problem. There's an update in the Startup folder (Found in \Windows\startup) called update.exe or something. Just delete that and it'll sort the problem.

Hi mates,
the error mentioned here will occure if you checked "fix multiple reset bug" while cooking your ROM.
the supplied s/w (wm03hotfix.exe) gives this error message. there is another perfect tiny s/w to solve this WM2003 bug and it's called clear_notify.exe
simple search and you will find .. just put it in \windows\startup directory.
