newbie question: what's extended rom?

hello,

i just got my MDA II, and i upgraded with the latest t-mobile dutch rom.
and then it installed extended rom. What does it actually mean?
and how comes when i start, i already have 51 MB in use???
my memory status is half empty, how comes?

ext. rom is used by providers to customize their XDA II to work with their network. basically after each hard reset device installs whatever is in Ext. ROM automatically. You can customize it for your own use. search the forums on how to do it.

John, what kalex says is correct. I just like to add a warning. Playing around with the Extended ROM can help an expert getting a very individual result after a hard reset - for a newbee it's quite likely that you put your XDA into a status that it wouldn't work anymore. So, rather rely on what you have...
