I bought a XDA2 today, reinstalled all the 3rd party navigation software etc and when I tried the GPS via RS-232 it does not see the GPS reciever!

I am using the same cable as before and it was working perfect with the XDA1, but once I try the XDA2 it will not recognise the COM1 where the GPS reciever is connected via RS-232!

Has anybody any clue whats going on? It seems that I need to reconfigure the COM1, but how? do I need to re-wire it??

Thanks

Andrew

Found the cure from:

http://www.pocketmap.com/accessories/troubleshooting.html#AUTO

it states:

Q: I have a T-Mobile/XDA/Siemens Pocket PC Phone and when I try to connect to the GPS on COM1, it keeps telling me: "Can't Open COM1: Check to make sure no other applications are accessing this port.

A: You have to turn off the "Receive Beam" feature first.

Go to Start->Settings. Click on the "Connections" tab.
Open the "Beam" manager.
Uncheck the checkbox that says "Receive all incoming..."
Restart PocketMap Navigator and try using COM1 to connect to the GPS.
If that doesn't work, try disabling the ActiveSync auto sync feature:
Go to Start->ActiveSync.
Go to the Tools->Options on the menu bar.
Uncheck the box that begins "Enable synchronization when cradled..."
You can try re-checking the box after you get a GPS lock.

No rewiring required, just go to settings/connections/beams and uncheck the box, this will release com1, if you have a keyboard driver you will also need to disable this because it is also likely to grab com1.
