OK, i'm cheap, but i don't have the $20 a month it costs to get the GPRS connection and just want to use a slow old CSD every once in a while. i've tried to connect to ATT Global a million times and it continues to tell me that:
"There is no modem at this number." (or soemthing to that effect)
or sometimes it says
"You username or password is wrong.." (when I know it IS correct)

Do i need to change the v.32 to v.34 or something else?

Do I select "Cellular Line" under "Select a Modem"?

What does transparent or non-transparent mean and does it matter for a regular old CSD dialup connection?

Basically, ATT Global won't support the Pocket PC for connections and T-mobile won't support CSD connections. They say, "Do you have a dial tone?...Yes... Ok, that's all we can do for you."

One last thing that may just be a ATT Global issue is that every time after i get the message that i can't connect, I go back to my settings and my user name is fine, but my password is twice as long as it should be. it is 16 characters when it should just be 8. i reset it to correct it, but then it goes back to the long row of 16 ****'s again every time.

I haven't been able to find info on how to set this thing up for CSD connections as a dialup modem on the internet anywhere. Maybe it's because it is so dang easy. However, I haven't been able to connect and I've tried every possible combination of settings and dialing preferences I can think of. Someone who uses CSD and a regular ISP, please help!

in my country theirs 2 types of CSD the presubscription dial up which has a number & a username & pswd in wich all the setting remains default & you use a the modem Cellular line or the public dialup for non subscribedt where you dial a number but no password is needed at all but i also select the cellular line as a modem.

I have used CSD extensively. You seem to be doing everything right. To test, set the CSD line-type to V32 and make a call to an anlogue landline. You should hear a modem calling you. Then set it to V.110 and call a differnet brand of GSM, such as a Nokia r a Siemens. It should say 'Incoming data call' or something like it. If these work you at least know your GSM provider is giving you the real thing.

I have no clue what's up though. Good luck...
