I get the message: "Logon to MSN Messenger Service failed because the service is not compatible with this version of the program"
The update is not completely installed. Here are some tips:

After installing, be sure to soft-reset your Pocket PC so the update can take effect
If the battery of your device has completely run down, or if you have "hard-reset" the device (factory reinitialization), the update disappears. You will need to re-install the update each time you set up your mobile device.

Although i did above, i still get this message.

I use the XDA-developers special rom v1.2

Can anyone help me out on this?

You have two options, either to go to Microsoft site, Pocket PC section, then download a fix for the MSN. The other option is install the lastest ROM 1.72, it includes this fix

I sincerely doubt that the 1.72 ROM will do any good in his XDA1-device.

Install the MSN update, and if that doesn't help - Get a fresh ROM either from an official download (www.qtek.se, www.o2.co.uk or whatever) or from one of the kitchens. I think you can even include the msn-update in the ROM when you cook it...
