sx56 upgrade query

I just upgraded my o2 XDA 1 to sx56 upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003.I am aware of that sound problem,which is pretty sucky.But is there anyway i can change the sms ringtone other than the default ones??can i set .wav or .wma as my sms ringtones.Any help will be appreciated.

Copy a wav containing the sound into the windows folder of your device.

The file should automatically show up in the "Start - Settings - Sounds & Notifications - Notifications tab - 2.Select how to be notified"-dropdown.

I am not sure wether you can use only wav-files, I think the extension needs to be wav, but you might be able to trick it into playing a wma file by changing the extension to wav.

You can also record music files using your Voice Recorder Application and or Voice Prompts or Messages. This is cool because now your PDA is different from all the others that have the same standard ringtones and prompts. The Quality using the Recorder is also pretty good. That is the easiest way to do it. Oh and ofcourse you must then move the wav files to the correct Folder for your ringtones to see them.

hey thanks alot for da help!i really appreciate it!can u please help me wid sumthing else?deres dis stupid sound problem....da volume thing,can dat be fixed too...with da same ROM??ive tried looking for it on the forums,noone has a remedy as yet...maybe u guys can help??
