Hi

Ive been reading the forums for sometime on this issue, and was quite confused until i finally bought a BT device and did it for myself.

I purchased a very cheap BT device from qtds.com, only £14. The widcomm driver that came with it probably would have worked, but i had messed around with with BT before, and was sure i hadnt uninstalled something somewhere. Anyway, one place to get all the BT installation instructions, plus the widcomm downloads is:

http://www.jonsguides.com/bt/en/

If you follow this guide, plus preparation instructions, all should go fine in installing your BT dongle.

With regards to getting Activesynch working, there is an excellent guide at:

Having done this, i was well pleased. Now all i wanted to do was surf the net through my desktop at work. I messed around with a few things, but this is how i did it, using the standard BT software on the XDA2, and the BT widcomm stuff i had installed above on the desktop.

On the pocket pc, i selected START, Settings, Connections and the Connections icon. Then i selected Edit my proxy Server. Since i am at work, we have a proxy server, so i entered its IP address. (you can download a free proxy server for your desktop from download.com. Just enter its IP address, which will probably be your desktop IP address).

Then i just established an Activesynch connection between my XDA2 and Desktop. While that was running, i started Internet Explorer. And voila. Im surfing the net through my desktop.

Thats all i did. Im a happy bunny now. :)
