hi m8.....im using xda1, with a car kit and wired haicom gps. while it works fine, mapping software for ireland is shit. the best i found was mapopolis, which is a free download, and i figured out how to hack the maps, and also to enable voice prompts. so try it, and download the limerick map, if there is one. the dublin map is good, but once u leave the major cities, only main roads are mapped. i also use gpsdash.

I use mapopolis too, its crap in the country, great in the cities! I also use tomtom routeplanner. Its BRILLIANT in the country every little back road is there, even lanes with grass growing on the middle of the road!!, but the cities are shit and it does not do 'active navigation' for re-routing. All that it is is a scrolling map, but it does plan routes and shows it on the screen so you simply follow the road.
I have heard that Viamichelin have good 3D software for Ireland, but its €200!! with NO GPS reciever see:

Hope this helps
