I had a similar problem last year and in the end, I performed a cold reset by deactivating the battery for a couple of minutes and recovering from a backup.[/b]

It sounds like either the battery or the charging circuit are defective. Warranty problem!

@aeroreg
I'm going through the same thing now. My XDA is dead! Exactly the same problem like yours. Have you sort it out?

bad RSU can cause the same problem ... do you still able to use the phone part (GSM OK) ?

Have seen similar where unit will not charge and battery eventually flat. Was caused by internal miniature fuse being blown insideXDA. Had to jumper it with fine wire soldered across with miniature iron (and steady hand !!!).
This fixed problem. Somewhere on this site is description and pictures by fellow sufferer (late last year if I remember).
Have you by chance tried to use an iPAQ cable to power your XDA ?? this causes this problem for sure.
regards :D

@awhitlock
Can you post the link of the despriction? I couldn't find it. And no, I didn't use an iPaq cable.
@Biso007
Bad Remote Software Update? I don't think it causes this problem to my XDA as I still think it's more hardware related. Any chance how a bad RSU can cause such problem?
Guys, I tried hard reset and switch on the XDA simultaneously, and immediately there's a screen of four thicked coloured lines, (which is White, Red, Green and Blue) and written "WALLABY Bootloader V5.17" on the white line and "GSM ERROR" on the blue line. Any idea on this? :S
Cheers,
:)

RSU = Radio Stack Upgrade
what you got is the boot loader screen ... if you can see "GSM OK" then it's not RSU problem ... most propabley will be h/w or bad battery problem

I left my xda to recharge when I came and unplug it it was dead already :(
I tried to change battery, but it doesnt want to work at all. With Old battery when I place it to recharde the red light is flashing for a while then going down.
Do you think it may be repaired by myself ?
The issue is that in Poland I didn't found ANY service from XDA :(
thanks for help

definitely this is broken fuse, small micro fuse right beside the connector pins on the motherboard.

@Biso007
Thanks for correcting me on the RSU. To be honest, I'm a newbie in PDA, all I know is just use it, charge it, and clean it when it's dirty :|
I thought of changing the battery but what migdalt stated out is worrying me a little bit, I'm afraid after changing the battery, the problem is still there.
@JGUI
Any chance for you to show me how to fix my XDA?
Geez, XDA is problematic! :|

Hi there, I'm really sorry to tell you what Biso has already said, that if you get GSM ERROR in the Bootloader screen so you have killed your XDA by upgrading the RSU :cry:
wish you better luck to find a solution for it soon

But the thing is, it is working well before the battery went flat. My XDA did not undergo any upgrading or updating process before the battery went flat. :|

as long as you haven't gone upgrading RSU I think there is hope you can still save your XDA.
try this:
1- hard reset your device
2- allow it to stand hardreseted for about two minutes
3- hard reset it again
4- put it to the cradle
6- if you get the rom version number, the radio version and third one (Can't recall what it's for :oops: ) then your device is saved
.
.
.
otherwise send it for repair
Best wishes :)

Check this out.

Give it a try.
Anyway - a wild shot this is - play with the red selector limit switch. Many a times this has been the bane of auto hard resets and power losses. The switch has to be fully upped or downed completely.
