View Full Version : Sound from main connector?

Hi

Can anybody confirm if sound is wired into the main connector, I currently plug into the headphone / microphone jack plug to get TomTom sounds in the car, but it would be much more convenient to insert just one connector instead of two.

Has the connector wiring diagram been published anywhere?

Cheers

Justin

Hi

The wiring diagram from
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/Connectors is incorrect for the Himalya.

I only managed to get sound from one channel, and grounding pin 19 did not switch off the internal speaker.

Does anybody know of another source of the pinout for the connector.

I could buy a http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=108730 but that seems expensive.

Cheers

Justin,
More than one source confirmed the pinout of the connector is correct for the Himalaya.
Are you sure you did not get thing wrong?

Maybe some other threads (key word "carkit" or "car kit") are of interest for you.

YES sound is fed to the bottom connector
BUT dependent of who you speak with (ie which rom theyre using):
- all sound (both in-call phone and pda)
- in-call phone only

Unfortunately my carkit (O2 XDA II as sold by Expansys) only let me hear in-call phone sound. My rom is the T-Mobile 1.60.00 (1.60.36 ext rom).

Hi edsub

After posting I read about the problem with sound only comming out of the bottom connector when In a call, I didn't try this. Hopefully a later ROM will fix this issue. Until then I will use the headset jack plug.

Cheers

I have the same problem with the original CarKit of the XDA I.
So this could be a general problem....

I used to have stereo from the bottomconnector from my XDA 1, but not from my MDA 2...

As far as imknow Edsub is correct, only in-call audio works for now with most ROM's...

Getting all-audio through the speakers seems to be a rare story...

@johan: It sure is a rare story. Especially from the stories that seem to imply that one it getting all sound thru the bottom connector, I only got feedback from one person that claimed this was the case for rom 1.60.00 in combination with the T-Mobile MDAII carkit.
Which makes it even stranger because that same rom is the one I am using (and only having in-call phone audio) . . .

Rare (Eng.) = Zeldzaam (NL.)

I only read one story of a guy who said Tomtom work through the speaker, i'm afraid the was another mixup about waht speaker. The internal one or not....

According to Mocki on www.ppc-welt.info two pins are important:
pin19 should be grounded
pin9 should be UNconnected

This situation makes the T-Mobile carkit behave like wished:
When there is sound output (no matter what source):
1. radio is muted
2. sound goes via bottom connector to carkit-speakers (or car-audio line-in)

Does anyone know how pin 9 is connected inside the O2 XDAII carkit???

Hi

:D

http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/Connectors just gives me XML/XSL errors, and I cant speak German - really could do with a wiring diagram for the bottom connector.

I have Carcomm car cradles, Nokia Bluetooth car kits (kinda of works now) and a very neat bluetooth head set. I want the cradle to send audio to an aux input on the car stereo so I can play MP3's from the 512 SD card I just got!!

I can drill a hole in the bottom of the carcomm and attach a 3.5mm jack but it would be much better if I could use the connector

Ta!!

If you use an other browser than the Internet Explorer (e g. Mozilla) you īll be able to see the page....

I made 2 Screenshots of the important part. Hope it helps you....

Hi

If that works it will be great, I'm not going to try it until someone else confirms it works as I need to get a hardware guy to do the soldering for me.

So if any of you are going to try it, please remember to post back here.

Cheers
