Hi,

has anyone had any success using a CF GPS with the back pack ?

if so which model CF GPS and what software.

Got me back pack today, nice bit of kit, although a bit expensive tbh, want to make the most of it now.

Cheers, Shire

I have the TMobile MDA II and the iMATE backpack. Using the Ambicom CF GPS with Mapopolis works just fine. I have the CF GPS only as a backup since I prefer my bt Socket GPS Receiver but about 6 mths after owning it it would not lock onto satelites for my GPS location so it was useless and had to send it in for replacement. That took a about 2 weeks so I was without GPS for 3 weeks total and being on the road for about 4k miles per mth this was unacceptable so now I always have my CF GPS just in case it works fine but the lack of wires with bt is the better way to go.

Although I use Mapopolis I'm sure you can use anyones mapping program. All GPS receivers provide a standard stream of data that any reputable mapping program will read just fine.

hi, when u first used a cf card in the back pack did u need to configure anything ?

I have bought a sysonchip CF GPS receiver today and can't get it to work in backpack.

When i plug it in the power light displays for 1 second then oges out, it should stay on, so something ain't right. I have not done anything to configure the back pack to the xda 2.

I have loaded the mirror software and the back pack works, i.e. i have used TV and PC projector to project screen and powerpoint presentations.

Not used CF card so don't know whether it's the card ?

Oh and what port did u use the Ambicom CF GPS on, I've tried them all ?

Cheers, Shire

thx for your help LP.

just for info and in case anyone else wants to try it the SYSonChip CF GPS does work with xda 2 back pack.

A website called gpspassion recommended downloading gps monitor CE which i did and then set to port 7 and it worked. Also have to use port 0 sometimes ????

Gonna do more tesing with software soon, but I am at least getting full tracking of sats now on my xda, and fully portable.
