All,

I spent hours last night trying to access the bootloader on my XDAII so that I could switch it to the 1800MHz band. I simply cannot access it, when I hold the power button and press reset it simply cold-boots, gives me an O2 screen then goes through the setup process.

Details of the system are:
PPC2003 V4.20.0 (Build 13252)
ROM: 1.60.00WWE
DATE: 12/03/03
Radio: 1.10.00
Protocol: 1337.18
ExtROM: 1.60.50

I flashed the device with the latest ROM image from O2: http://www.sourceo2.com/O2_Developers/Devices/O2_Xda_II/XdaIIRom.htm

I did this before trying to access the bootloader. Could this ROM change the way the bootloader works, restricting access? If so does anybody know where I can get an old/different ROM from and how I can install it with no bootloader access?!

I am *absolutely* sure it is not the order I am pressing the power button and the reset button as I spent ages trying different combinations of press and hold!

I did find that if I pressed power button, reset and joypad I get a screen which simply says "Serial v1.03" this changes to USB when the cable is plugged in but I couldn't go anywhere from there in this mode!

I also tried bandswitch.exe to resolve my problem but this didn't seem to work and gave the current band as ERROR. Again, is this because it is incompatible with the new OS?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated,
Rich.

i case youre still looking for an answer: Bootloader is accessed via power-navi-reset all together.

BTW: WHY do you want to access it?
Bandswitch is not neccesary with Himalaya. Its three-band: 900MHz, 1800MHz, 1900MHz switches automatically (personally not tested 1900MHz)
