I called O2 and was told the release date had been put back to the 4th November and more suprisingly they have not got a price yet.
There will be no trade in or upgrade promo from teh XDA2 :(

Allegedly, I was successful in ordering one yesterday (3rd) - I was charged £279 (based on my tariff/upgrade - it does vary depending on your tariff).
However, as they had 'problems with the computers' my GM order number has not yet arrived.....

I called the local O2 shops - they are so crap!
The one that 2 days ago said it would be in on Friday now says they are not sue in until December. Another simply said they had heard nothing about it.....jesh!!! Neither of them could give me any idea of price...

its also available in the philippines now. Im thinking of getting it, but im already using xda2. the landscape orientation for spreadsheets and other softwares may prove to be very useful, other than that, id say the built in wifi is a welcome edition, im not a fan of the qwerty keypad though.
i was wondering also ifthis unit can support blackberry as well

i3oyi3astos,
If you could, please run to the store to play with one and in the bluetooth settings please see if they are still using the 1.0000000000000 version or if they upgraded it.
Second could you see if they have the BlackBerry client on it???
Third, take your credit card and consider it a early birthday gift :-)
Thank you VERY much as I'm hoping they updated these two in the XDAIIs.

I have bought one sim free from Here they have been assured by O2 today that they will be the first in the UK to stock them and that delivery will be shipped next monday.
I personally can't wait until Tuesday, this is the first phone with everything i ever wanted in one device, i am ditching my Treo 600 and palm for this little baby.
Cheers

Hi Richard,
I got my XDA II from Uplands last year and I can't fault them, so I'd be happy to get an XDA IIs from them as well, and their prices are certainly good!
Could you let us know when you get yours? I'll be interested to see when their stock starts to come through. Gonna call them now and ask about upgrades....
Edit: update on upgrades - I could have one, but it would cost me £285 cos I'm not a particularly heavy user. :(
Yeah uplands are good cant go wrong with them + they are very competitive in price. Stock will be due in on monday 15th nov.. cant wait!

I've just spoken to a few O2 shops in London area, they either tell me they have no idea when they're due or that 12th of November is release date and not to expect anything for at least 2 weeks after then :\
I've got 4 phones due an upgrade with an O2 reseller (unfortunately not direct with O2, corporate account with CarphoneWarehouse so will probably delay things further) - itching to get my hands on one!

Does anyone have any idea when this device will be available in the Netherlands? Through one of those mobile provider? (T-Mob, Orange, Telfort?) It seems that its out in UK and Germany and some places in US and other countries, but not yet here in NL, I've checked several stores and can't find convincing replies. I am keen to check this one out.

Just spoke to Uplands - they have said -
"Yes, O2 advised us yesterday that the release of
the handsets has been delayed again, and to expect delivery by around Monday of next week {15th Nov}. Unfortunately that means we cannot yet guarantee a delivery date"
Bumsticks :\

Please post any other shops that are selling the XDA IIs.
Uplands will not ship to a US customer!
I would love to get a XDA III, but getting it in a black version would be really cool.

The latest so far....
o2 Business site lists it as £179
http://shop.o2.co.uk/cgi-bin/o2uk-bs/jsp/greatDeals/GreatDeals.jsp
Don't get excited - if you go that link, it leads to a dead end page with a faulty landline number
They were told about this a week ago, but have done nothing to correct it.
Phoning their various sales teams - who seem to be given zilch info, so obviously the management are crap - I get these various stories:
"Price matrix says £350, even for upgrade" (Business, offline)
"£249, but only available offline" (Business, offline)
The problem is I'm on o2 100 Business, which is not nearly as good value as the 'Special online tariff' the £/mb rate is almost double. But if I buy an XDA IIs offline, how easy is it for me to switch to the online tariff?????
Cheers
(Personal purchase online at £249 does not seem to be a problem, though no idea about the stock levels)

Cheers, although personally I'm holding my breath for the O2 XDA IIs specifically, because of the contract discount (I have handsets due an upgrade) and the cool handset colour :)
Just wish I had my contracts with Uplands who seem to be on the ball, CarPhoneWareHouse aren't even aware of this handset :`(
Could be a loooong wait for them to get up to speed, I'll leave it a couple of weeks and start chasing them.

Hello guys!
i am thinking of bying the xda iis, and so I keep reading your posts for some time now. Can the people who have got it in their hands, tell the rest , whats their opinion now? I have read in some forums that the screen is not that good compared with similar products, or that the slide-in keyboard does not look firm and could be looser than it should.
And also the main question, as the main reason of its success is that it combines a pda and a phone : how good is the phone ? reception-wise and speech quality, etc? ?
Sorry for the many questions, but replying to these would be really helpful!
Thank you in advance and enjoy your new gadjets!

The Screen is OK, It's not as bright as my Axim X30High, but it's perfectly fine, voice quality is in my opinion excellant, It looks fantastic, and the keyboard is not flimsy or wobbly and i regard it as an excellant addition, text messages & emails just fly from the fingers now, in the dark it lights up a brilliant blue colour that looks really cool!
With regards to the camera it's not something i will use very often, but picture quality is OK i don't know how to tell the Mpixels of it, it will do 640x480 pics, so i guess that means it's .3mp, i don't know.
I have a canon powershot G5 for pictures.
On the CD you do get the voice dial app
Hope this helps

The IIs doesn't have blackberry. O2 are saying early next year when a BB client will be available for it.
The keyboard takes a bit of getting used to, but after that - I really couldn't do without it anymore. Really great to fire off quick emails and text.
The camera is exactly the same spec as xda2 - 0.3mp.

Chris
I would suggest that the extended rom unbloker would reveal the CAB files for the BB client on a BB ROMed XDA2 - I can't see what the problem would be running that on an XDA2s

According to some posts the Bluetooth Stack on th 02s is much better than the I-mate, or t-mobile. can someone post the bluetooth configuration ie version numbers under the advanced button on the Bluetooth manager and /or upload the bluetooth files.
thanks

Hi there! I'm a long time lurker, first time poster so the most important thing to do is to say HI to the forum members! :P
Secondly, I have to say thanks to those of you who led/encouraged me to buy an XDA IIs from Uplands - I got great friendly service from a couple of their lovely ladies and my new handset is everything I hoped it would be!
Thirdly I guess I ought to apologise in advance for what I'm sure will be a slew of messages asking some really dumb questions (but only if I can't find anything about them in other threads first of course! )
So thanks and Hi!

I've got the 9th button (keyboard spare button) assigned to "Context Menu" so that I can bring up a menu when in email/text inbox. That means you can create new, reply, forward etc. all from the keyboard. Sweet!
