If it's an XDA IIs then I guess it's brand new. Have you tried a hard reset?

it is and yeah have tried that... played around with the settings that are there
but nothing

Hmm... Weird. On my XDA II there are no phone settings to play with, apart from the network selection settings. It just works, I think. What exactly's not working? :?

well i dont see gsm for a start. by phone settings i just ment where you select the country gsm gprs prepaid

i just have a ! next to the network. when i place my other sim in the network has 2 bars????

keep getting this message "failed updating configuration" in the bit of software where one selects country and pre paid etc
