Does anyone know to what the strange headphone connector is for? Because my headset is just a 2,5 mm jack, and the connector on the device has something around it. I looks like it has been prepared for something else than just the headset.

Are you talking about the one that comes with the Himalaya?
Then it's for stability..
If you're talking about something else, please be more specific..

I'm sorry it wasnt clear. I posted the message in the BLue Angel section. So its about the blue angel and not the himalaya.
What I meant is the connector for the headset on the device. In the middle it has a jack input, but around it there is something else. I wonder what that is for.

yap.....
in fact there are 4 pins around the female connector. I'm not sure, but i supposed they're not linked to the headphone connector because this one "is supposed" to have 5 pins, not 4.
really can't figure it out....
anyone ?

perhaps some sort of connector for an lcd remote? That would be totally awesome!

That is a pendant bus connector. This is a standard developed by Microsoft for PocketPC.
You can see that listed in some of the specs on better sites.

I have yet to see a pendant bus device though.
