soft reset

Hi
I heard that when you soft reset your device it writes a line of code into the memory/register or some such place. Obviosly this can build up to quite a tiresome amount of useless text.
Can anyone advise how to get rid of it at all? I think there was a small application on here but I cant seem to find any reference to it.
