Unlocking MDA Compact

Anyone found a way yet to unlock the T-Mobile MDA Compact? Or will the XDA2UNLOCK tool be updated to unlock this puppy?

I read (I think on the Expansys forums) that the MDA Compact devices as sold in Germany (ie by nowicom) are SIM-lock free!

I have a Dutch MDA Compact, simlocked to T-Mobile :-( but with English OS :-)

Then YOU have the Intellipad.cab and the Intellidialer.cab in English sitting in your ExtROM / Vdisk.
Could you post / mail those two?
Same questions for cprog.exe wich resides in the \windows folder . . .

You get access to the ExtROM /VDisk by after a hard-reset and just before the customisation starts soft-resetting the device.

PocketMe: cprog.exe is a rom prog and thus cant be extracted from the device . . .
Its the rom filesystem that makes this impossible . . .

Here you have the complete extended ROM. Now someone please find a way to unlock it :-)

Can anyone PLEASE tell me how to uninstall Intellipad.

Once I installed it I could no longer get any input method to take place other than trhe keyboard. The options for Intellipad and Calligrapher and Block Recopgnizer were ther but it would not change to them when you clicked on them.

If it's not listed in Settings > System > Remove Programs, I'd guess you'd need to hard reset. :?:

I also intend to buy a MDA Compact from T-Mobile Netherlands. You got the English one, didn't you?

I called to the T-Mobile Klant services today and they said they will send me the Dutch one.

I have no idea how it happens to the T-Mobile Netherlands.

Have you found the way to unlock the MDA Compact yet?

hmm the Dutch one?? I don't think that's completely true. For instance, only a part of the menu is dutch, and there is so such thing as dutch T9 yet.

But... where does the unlock tool stay? 120 euro :shock: is to expensive

To be exact: There is no Dutch language PocketPC. All PocketPC's in the Netherlands are sold with an English operating system. So, the MDA Compact also comes with an Englsh Operating System.

Aside from that, I am not a developer or hacker, and I am not capable of cracking a simlock, sorry. I am also waiting for someone here to find the crack :-)

Isn't it the bootloader that determines if the device is locked or not? I didn't think these ROM updates touched the the bootloader?

Like many fellow Dutchmen I'm looking forward to unlocking my T-mobile Magician / MDA Compact. The FTP server contains a procedure that reads "...now you have an unlocked English MDA.."(or something to the extent of) written towards German to English ROM upgrade. Does this procedure also work when the device is initially simlocked, as i´m suming the German one isn´t. I'm finding mixed messages about this subject.

Can I upload any (ROM) files to aid in this proccess?

If someone can tell me how to remove the simlock I would be very grateful. Willing to share my gratitude via PayPal or a DVD full of PPC apps.

thinking about either getting a t-mobile sim-locked version but then i need to get it unlocked for my Hi card.

It seems the only places who sells unlocked TMobile compacts are in Germany and are usually with a German ROM...

Me too wanted to buy a Compact and unlocking it for using it with a Belgium SIM... But up till today, still didn't find a solution or someone who can unlock it. So I gave up... and I ordered a JAM in the Netherlands... simlock free and an English rom... cost a bit more than a Compact... but now I'm sure I got a good support from clubimate, and also after reading several posts on different forums... it seems the ROM of the JAM is a bit more steady than the Comact one...

Hope I made the right choise... :-)

I get the same prob. even without InteliPad installed .. i.e. only Keyboard input method .. I get used to Letter Recognizer .. now i cant see it on Input methods .. Can some one help me to get the Letter Recognizer back ??? Im using WM2003 SE 2.20.07CHS . Tks in advance !!!

Isnt there a way to "fool" the phone in thinking that there is a T-mob sim in it....there are card readers that can read sims and there are enough blank sim units in the market.

there must be a loophole in the MDA compact....THERE MUST BE ONE :twisted:

Is it possible to mail the customer service in england/germany to make them unlock your MDA compact for free? finding a relative or friend in germany/UK with T-mobile is no prob (for me).

In Austria, Tmobile even charges you if you want to unlock after one year :(

They called their engineers who confirmed that this was one of the most difficult phones to unblock, and that they could do it if i mialed as they needed to use some sort of cable. They tried everything to no avail, so I have 22 days left until unlocking is allowed by tmobile uk....
