Hi,
since one week I’m the owner of a new mdaIII by t-mobile/austria.
I like it a lot, but I also have some problems with the usage of the device.
Now I’m searching for some advice of experts.
Turning on and off the mobile phone of the mdaIII by using the signal-strength-icon in the upper-right corner of the display is not very convenient, because you have to use the pen. With the finger it is often a problem, because sometimes I hit the volume-icon (on the right), sometimes the bluetooth-icon (on the left).
I'm searching for a possibility to switch on and off the mobile-phone by mapping it on an hardware-button. Is there a possibility (hidden feature or a software) to do this?
Thanx
Hans

there is a radiooff.exe (by HTC) that switches off the Himalaya GSM radio (not bluetooth!).
maybe that works for Blue Angels too.
If so, you can map that s/w to a button
Edit
Hhere is a cab of the s/w i mentioned.
Just run it on your device to install
Its un-installable

You could use pocket zen phone to turn the radio on/off
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=6162&start=2650
but it can't change the bluetooth settings on the blue angel.

On the XDA1, you can also press the red button (the one you use to end a call) for 3 seconds.
Does it not work any more on the MDAIII?

Hi all,
eDsuB, seems Radio on-off by HTC, as packaged by yourself is not fully working on the Blue Angel (i-Mate PDA2k)...
Pressing the button turns the flight mode on just fine, but pressing later on to switching the flight mode off again does not work, giving error message:
"Radio Problem
Problem. Try one more time or do soft-reset!
Retry / Cancel"
Only after a reset and taping with the stylus via the icon in the taskbar I can switch back off flight mode...
Pocket Zen Phone seems also not to work on the Blue Angel unfortunately.
Any other suggestions ?
cheers,
bins

The latest beta for PocketZenPhone does work on the Blue Angel.

Radio on-off has same behaviour on all supported devices.
It seems radio on-off is only useable to quickly switch the GSM radio off & on (ie to change your active sim when using a dual sim adapter). I saw that when I switched off the GSM using Radio on-off for a meeting, I got this same message saying to try again / soft-reset.
I also noticed I could simply use the into/outof flight mode function to get the GSM back on again.
BTW: radio on-off switches the GSM only. It is NOT the same as flight mode (in flight mode all radio's are off)
