I've been off the forum for a long while.
Could somebody update me on where we stand on ROM/Operator ROM versions and is it yet possible to install a REAL Bluetooth stack (i.e. one that supports a handsfree profile and passes car microphone into the XDA for voice recognition).
I have an XDA2 with an identity crisis (had a sexchange and now masquerades as an M1000 on Orange).
BTW I currently use a T610 with my Parrot car kit. What an outstanding implementation of Bluetooth services!! XDA developers could do worse than write a T610 emulator ....

The current rom version is:
OS 1.72.00WWE
Radio 1.17.00
ExtROM:
O2 1.72.181 / 1.72.187 (UK based, difference: one is with other without Blackberry)
T-Mobile 1.72.190 (NL based)
iMate 1.72.126
QTek 1.72.601
I would go for the O2 or T-Mobile ones, but: There are many customisations available (like my own 1.72.903 T-Mobile based) with many extras that might suit your wishes.
Read the sticky post from dcs to fix & prevent upgrade errors to avaoi Identity crises.

The current ExtROM version of the imate is 1.72.800.
How (and why..) can I upgrade the Radio version to 1.17 (my current is 1.14.

@amir : you could replace radio.nbf from your upgrade with another 1.17 out of some recent update.
Just watch the country code.
and do not try to update radio alone. just reupdate with existing OS rom, new radio rom and existing EXtrom
About the why I'm not so sure. I don't recall the benefits of 1.17 against 1.14. maybe you could do a search.

Only rom part that can be left out with a rom update is the ExtROM.
You MUST upgrade Radio & OS at the same time as a minimum.
The ExtROM can also be updated via the ExtRom Tools (which is less dangerous than flashing.

Have loaded all the latest updates available but original BT problems still remain. I have a Nokia CK-1W car kit which has always refused to work though I did get some success using the Pocket Bluetools stack ( incoming calls only ). Don't know of any other solutions for BT right now ???

Well I have the T-Mobile 1.72 ROM already (with Orange 1.66 ExtROM) and the Bluetooth is still rubbish.
Oh well, one day!!
PS Pocket PC tools looked promising for a while but I couldn't get it to work with Parrot. Have there been any updates since April?

BT is working just fine (thanks god :) ).
I am pairing daily with GPS receiver & BT headset, no problems at all.
I just upgrded my ExtROM, with official update from iMate, I think I'll skip updating the radio, since I see no known reason for that.

BTW, I just heard a rumor saying ROM 1.77 for the iMate, will on the air within 1-2 weeks.
The update contains radio 1.17

Get the 2.02.t1WWE Windows 2003SE upgrade which is available on this site from DCS.
I recently upgraded my device and it now works with my Nokia CARK-1W bluetooth car kit. I have tried every upgrade available up until this one for a fix without any joy so I am rather please with the results !!
Incidentally, performace on my XDAII has improved over the last ROM.
