Hi ricky0930,
That thread is no more accessible... :o( looks like it was deleted.
However, I downloaded .bin ROM image from another site.
Did you get (at upgrading) an error message "Update NOT allow" ??
What was your bootloader version before upgrade?

Steps for upgrade:
1. make SD ROM backup of your XDAII
2. using Winhex, save the content to PC
3. using Winhex, copy the first 412 bytes from the header of your backup file
4. using Winhex, paste them over first 412 bytes of the chinese ROM backup binary file and save it
5. using Winhex, write chinese ROM backup file onto your SD card
6. put the SD card in XDAII and enter bootloader mode (wait a bit)...
7. press "Power" to flash...
That's it. At the end of flashing, it will complain, that "checksum failed", but just reset and....
...I have WM2003 SE running on my XDAII!
I'm not saying too much details on how to do this and that, because if you are NOT an EXPERIENCED USER of winhex, XDAII bootloader, YOU HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE, HOW TO FLASH XDAII, THEN:
!!!!!!! D.O.N.T. D.O. T.H.I.S. !!!!!!!
If you do, it's your own risk...

Does anyone have access to the non-SD image of this ROM? I mean the official desktop .exe that flashes the device?

can you explain more clearly how you can upgrade the rom? Is this a simplified or traditional Chinese rom?

a special way to do it

hi, Chi Fai, here it is:
1. Backup ur ROM. Insert above 128MB SD, uncheck "USB connection" in ActiveSync. Using "romupdate.exe", select "\\.\WCEUSBSH001". type "d2s".
2. Using "ntrw" "read" ur ROM into PC.
3. Using winhex, replace the 0-383 byte of "69602Ver.BIN" w/ ur ROM's. May be 0-411 byte, if ur xda2 is V1.06. Mine is V1.01.
4. Using "ntrw.exe" to write ROM(2003SE) to SD.
5. Insert the SD to ur xda2, enter bootloader mode, press "Power" to flash... then reset.
5. "69602Ver.BIN" is a simplified Chinese ROM.
6. BTW, U can still get recovery by uring ur ROM SD in bootloader mode.
7. Mention above posted: "if you are NOT an EXPERIENCED USER of winhex, XDA II bootloader, YOU HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE, HOW TO FLASH XDA II, THEN: !!!!!!! D.O.N.T. D.O. T.H.I.S. !!!!!!! If you do, it's your own risk... "
Good luck! BTW, I flash mine w/ abt 20 min... will upgrade the radio to 1.18... ...

You have to replace the complete ROM image header (highlited in blue) up to HTCS checksum.
It depends on your bootloader version and device...

IF I upgrade to the new Win2003 SE
Is my Bootloader ver 1.02 also will be upg to 1.06???
I don't know. On my device I've logged all USB communication to a file and seen that bootrom part is skipped during update. But I already have the 1.06 booltloader. Someone have to check this with 1.02.
