Well well, actually after posting these messages I was so eager to waste couple of hours so I reverted back to 2.06 :wink:

It has been couple of days now since then and I ..guess...things are working now....HOWEVER....upon opening any .wav, gif, jpg file from File Explorer I get the message: ¨cannot find xxx or one of it components..bla bla bla..¨although I can open them from inside Media Player & Album!!!

I own a Qtek 2020 purchased in Dubai, U.A.E. in 2004.
I am experiencing trouble booting my Pocket PC. I was trying to upgrade my ROM version from 1.60.00WWE to 1.72.00WWE when my Laptop went into standby mode. The upgrade got interrupted and the software asked me to reset my device and place it in the cradle. When I reset my device, it shows the normal screen with Qtek written in the centre. It has the device information in the bottom right corner. It gets stuck here and does not proceed. Additionally, when I place it on the cradle, my laptop does not recognize it anymore.
I have the backup for it on the SD card which is inserted into it. However, I am unable to get to the Bootloader mode, probably, because I had disabled the camera button when i used the device the last time.
I need to know how I can repair my Qtek 2020 or any way that I can get it to start.
Your help shall be appreciated.

It sounds agonizing man :!:
Check those registry strings that are linked to those file types giving the error pop up msg!! It could be some wrong association there :wink:
After all, just a lil q, have you downloaded the same ROM 2.06.00 dated 6/21/2004 :?:
Surely thats what am running and assure you that since that file was posted I have been running it error-free and the booting issue, um...it takes about 20-30 secs, but after all how many times do I need to reboot :wink:

If you doubt the rom date and version, happy to post it.
On the other hand, you need to be very particular of what files are within the Ext_ROM. I mean some could really mess your registry up and that's how you're getting errors. BTW can you post the list of those files in the ext_rom? I can post you the Ext_ROM I am running which of course to you it is as important to have the IMAGINET package as it is to me :wink:

...I am experiencing trouble booting my Pocket PC. I was trying to upgrade my ROM version from 1.60.00WWE to 1.72.00WWE when my Laptop went into standby mode. The upgrade got interrupted.....

Try the combination of three.. the power button + reset button + D-pad (4 directional) all pressed together. After when you've done this, try connecting with the cradle and run the upgrade once again and wait...

To my knowledge, the Qtec 2020 was sold in dubai for UK purpose or in another word it was for UK market :!:

Well, if you recall in my last message, I reinstalled the 2.06WWE, I guess it is stable now but only that error I told you about...the version is dated 04/16/04..I was thinking of using Sinś Merged one but I am not sure.

Well, it takes little less than that with me, may be about 10 sec., however, as I am using the widcom BT stack 1.4.1, this sometimes hangs up the phone..however, I think after merging it with v. 1.6.1 it got stable a little bit.

IActually while writing these, I thought that the rotate_screen cab file can be ommitted as i think thatś already a feature of WM2003SE. Date, Device_Manager, dorucenka, IPToday, &Tray_launch are already posted somewhere on this forum. In addition, I have Resco File Explorer2003, Pocket Informant, and Widscomm, these are the supposed to be default setup for my device after a cold boot.

I succesfully upgraded my QTEK 2020 (Vodafone network) to WM 2003SE.
(old ROM 1.72 WWE, Radio 1.14)
Great thanks to finalzero for his valuable contributions. There are nearly no issues left for me to complain about.
Just two small ones:
O2 splash screen (which does not bother me) seems to hang a little when booting the device.
Second issue: headset icon on today screen dissappears now and then. (problem reported).

I also don't have any bluetooth issues left; had alot of problems with bluetooth activesync, just like most of you I guess.

I don't know if it is somewhere on this forum, but I would like to point out a solution to you which helped me tremendously in overcoming lots of activesync problems: This one:

(remove hidden bluetooth ports in device manager, which prevent activesync from chosing ports above COM 9)
Could be useful for people with activesync problems.

Read through almost the entire of this thread.

When I tried upgrading to WM2003SE before, all was good other than the device would not wake up after putting it to standby and the phone would default to loud speaker.

I'm thinking of trying the FinalZero verison. Is this likely to fix these problems?

pls pls go in for the UK ROM... it comes pre-installed with O2 Active ( a very neat today plgin.... and a s/w suite is available along with the ROM which has a state of the art ZIPPING(compressing) software, a FAX s/w and a voice dialing s/w(just incase urr not aware of the Microsoft Voice Command 1.5 available on www.iphone-forum.org )

not the ext rom which is HIMA_WM_2K3_EXTROM
now my device looks like this

Ans. Take the sim out....put it back again properly.....perform a hard reset and try again.......

I am running my iMate on ver 2.02.t1(WWE), and I have been having endless problems with using my BT handsfree in my car with this version. I have the problem that many other people have with only the microphone on the phone working and both speakers working! Very frustrating. Is this problem solved in 2.06, and if it is at what cost? I also have a BT GPS which runs on COM5 and wondered if there were problems with running a BT serial port in 2.06.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

dcs, thanks for excellent information on updating to the WM2003SE. However, upgrading my Qtek 2020 wasn't that straight forward.. It somehow stopped with an error message ERROR 120: COUNTRY ID ERROR N-5-O-N-O (Please see attached file)

I'm located in Norway and we use Telenor Mobil as GSM operator. The phone is unlikely to be locked, so please if anyone has a good suggestions...

Use ER2003Edit software the easiest way to change it. You can find this files in ftp address.

Please state clearly what you mean with death. I you want to operate camera just installed in extended rom. It will work again.

Wow!! Thanks a bunch, my former Orange SPV M1000 is now a genuine HTC Himalaya :D

The old ROM had a few flaws, which are now fixed, like the "File Explore" could not Copy/Paste Cut/Paste or delete, exept if I took one file at a time, waited for 30 sec. closed "FE", and restarted it.

All the no longer working Orange "extras" are gone now.
PIE is a bit faster, and a lot more stable.
Calendar is opening faster:cool:

But: Trees don't grow all the way into the heaven.

Some programes make hickups, when installing, saying that they might not work, since they were made for a previus version of WM (eaven if most of them do work perfectly)
The Today plugin "Batmemtime" ( http://www.geocities.com/tomgigear77/Software.html ) is no longer stable, some times it doesn't show up on the screen.

I can't get my Socket P300 SD WiFi card to work, it's not recognised when inserted :eek:
Edit: The WiFi problem is solved, the card was dead :(

Other improvements discovered: My VGA Out backpack is faster, and more stable now (Realy needed that), and I've got more room in "Storage" (Nice).

Hi, i am using a PM10B WM2003 CE device. After a rom upgradation(running HimaUpgradeUt.exe). While installing, during the process its comes out with error. After that i could not even switch on my pocket pc & it goes a blank screen & active sync also dose not detect my pocket pc. Can anybody have any idea hot to restore my rom to previous state..

I obtained (with many thanks to fychan) a memory image of an English version of WM2003 SE which is an earlier version than the recent Chinese release, but it is genuine English. I managed to create an installable NK.nbf file from this. Also, mamaich has provided the version 1.18 Radio upgrade included here. Many thanks to mamaich for that and also for some advice when I was building the OS nbf file. Also, mamaich has provided some CAB files for Extended ROM which I have also attached here separately.

Attached is an upgrade for Himalaya devices to WM2003 SE WWE, Radio 1.18. Unzip the attachment into a folder of your choice. The nbf files are configured for operator ID O2 and language ID WWE. If you need to change these, carry out all the steps below. If they are OK for you, go straight to step 5.

Extract the decrypted versions of the nbf files by entering the following commands at the command prompt:

xda2nbftool -x NK.nbf NK.nba 0x20040304
xda2nbftool -x Radio_.nbf Radio_.nba 0x20040306

Modify the operator ID in the nbfs to the value you require by entering the following commands at the command prompt substituting <operator> with the required value:

xda2nbftool -sd PH10 -so <operator> -sl WWE NK.nba
xda2nbftool -sd PH10 -so <operator> -sl WWE Radio_.nba

Update the crc values for each of the decrypted files by entering the following commands at the command prompt:

xda2nbftool -c -u NK.nba
xda2nbftool -c -u Radio_.nba

Encrypt the files back into the nbf files by entering the following commands at the command prompt:

xda2nbftool -x NK.nba NK.nbf 0x20040304
xda2nbftool -x Radio_.nba Radio_.nbf 0x20040306

Place your device in the cradle, ensuring that the cradle is plugged directly into a USB port on your PC and not to a hub and that the power supply is connected to the cradle. It is also a good idea to disable any screensavers.

Run HimaUpgradeUt.exe

Sit back and wait for the Congratulations screen to be displayed on your PC. Your device will still be displaying 'Upgrading radio stack, please wait', but as long as the PC says it is done, then its all OK.

Notes: I have installed this upgrade on my XDA II without any problems, and have also been able to revert back to the 1.72 ROM I had installed previously. I have bootloader v1.01, and I don't know whether it would be any different for later versions of bootloader.

After upgrading, a hard reset takes places and the Extended ROM is installed. I found that several applications caused a 'Application may not display properly.....' message box to appear which required tapping to dismiss. Therefore, you will need to make sure that TPDisable.exe is not run in the Config.txt script in the Extended ROM, otherwise you will not be able to respond to the messages.

Edit: I've created a .BAT file which can be run from a DOS prompt to replace steps 1-4...

Usage: OperatorUpdate operatorID
where operatorID is O2 or CDL or TMOBILE, etc.

Just unzip the attached zip file.

It's not dead. Forget ActiveSync. When you will cradle it, it will say USB instead of Serial and then just flash it. Trust me :D

I'll say it once more - FORGET ACTIVESYNC. DO NOT even look at it!
Just connect your USB cable and run upgrade utility, and you'll be done.

Hello All, I'm new to the XDA II and the form.

Anyway, I thought I would try doing the update using dcs's instructions and software.
Everything seamed to go OK. I set the operator to o2 and all looked well.

Then after a few minutes I got an error saying that the software couldn't communicate with the XDA II.

Now all I have is Serial at the top of the screen and v1.06 at the bottom and I need a torch to read it.

Nothing now works on the XDA and my PC wont talk to it at all.

I'd appreciate any help in resetting or re-flashing my XDA II or even some links to possible fixes.
