Hi,

I have an English version of the Imate, but I am dutch. Does anybody know if it is possible to import a dutch T9 dictionary from another phone or something and use it on my Imate?

HI,

i've donwloaded some files and made some testing, but no way to get it.

renamed the siemens t9 files name to T9(language)Ldb.lbd (that's the way they are in the windows folder) but even after soft reset they don't appear.
Looked at registry but i'm not a expert.

The files are named T9EnglishLdb.dll
But even if you replace those files, it wont work.
Probably because it has more info than just a simple LDB database.

There should be a tool for this!!

I will try to look at i tommorrow.

I found a list of dutch words on the web and inserted them into the intellipad.udb file. Not bad as a workaround until we have a real t9 database I think. Takes a few seconds to load the first time it is opened.

edsub

Is this udb file the library that holds the self-added words?
Where should it be put?
Does it survive a soft reset (I recall skenliv said he lost it after a soft reset)

pleun

yes
in the windows folder
I reset several times, it's still ok

Hi Pleun,
Where did you find the dutch list?
I installed it on my ppc and it works, but could be fine tuned.
I would look to do that.
How did you search?
I have no clue

Hi Pleun, thanks for the file. Should I just copy it to the Windows folder, thereby overwriting the existing intellipad.udb file, or should I in some way insert it in the exisiting file on my Compact? If yes, how? I would like to be able to simultaneously use English and Dutch T9. So is your file an English list + extra Dutch words, or only a Dutch library?
thanks in advance.

Depends on what your current list looks like, if there's a lot of words inthere already, I would copy it to your pc then add my list by just copy and paste and return it to the ppc. It's really just a txt file so you can have words from all languages in there ! If there's a word that looks like the one your typing then it will be presented to you!

Hi Pleun, thanks for your answer. For some reason I just cannot get it to work correct. Although I created an udb file from your word list, for some reason it does not see all the words, it just keeps on giving me suggestions that are not in the list (aangaafiets? does seem neither Dutch nor English to me;) ) and ignoring words that are in the list. And it also suggests Dutch words that are not in the list when I start typing them. It almost seems there are two udb files in the folder with different lists of words, but when I look with Explorer I am certain there is only one.
The Dutch library you suggested in one of your replies above, from the tripod website is not single column and very large, so for now I think I'll stick with your list, although it behaves very oddly.
Anyway, thanks for your help in creating this temporary solution.

If you copy the udb file to your pc and look inside, does the list look normal, are words not scrambled ?

frewys

I made a SWEDISH .udb file. its by no means complete but its better than nothing! It was the one thing that bothered me the most on ma Qtek S100 Lack of Swedish T9 support. But it works really great with the Swedish file now! 1742 words n sure names. please feel free to edit and ad to it. who need the slow nordic Qtek anyway

Also use the topkey. GREAT prog!! thanx for the tip bruxelles5.

Koksie
13th January 2005, 08:42 AM
The file looks normal, words are not scrambled in any way. They were however on my first few tries, with square boxes between the letters of each word, but this time the words are just like I copied them, in plain text.

so I did exactly what Pleun described and it worked well.

But there are not many words in the file he posted, so I took the file from: http://m.vanoosten.tripod.com/ and replaced al the spaces whit enters and deleted the "User Dict v2.0 " stuff and renamed it to IntelliPad.udb

I thought it would work but it didn't, and I wonder why, it's just like the file Pleun posted but more words (and it's about 2MB big)

Anyone know why it didn't work?

pleun
14th January 2005, 05:14 PM
what if you would import it in MS Access or Excel as a txt file using space as a separator ? I tried it but it wanted to import the whole lot into one row, which obviously didn't work. There must be some ms office guru's around that know how to handle this. Once it is imported you could make a single column file out of it. It will be damn long one tho ! :D

In general: this only works for the intellipad, not the keyboard tool right ?

After replacing the original intellipad.udb with the one offered by Pleun, I seem to lose a lot of words from the list and the size shrinks from 67k to about 32k.. I think it has something to do with the files not being in the same format: The original intellipad.udb file seems to be in hex format, whereas the Pleun one is in plain text. . I tried converting it into hex but the same thing happens (file getting smaller)..

A couple of wordlists for Dutch users to play around with (groene boekje):
ftp://ftp.tue.nl/pub/tex/GB95/spell-nl-v5b/woorden/

Koksie
15th January 2005, 02:06 PM
The same happened to me, the file shrank to 32 k. I copy/pasted the list a few times over the old list and suddenly the files was 67k, although the words still appear only once. Very strange indeed. I installed the 67k file om my Compact, and it works partly. Some words ( fiets, dikke) are suggested, other words ( aanleiding, all words starting with "aan" in fact) are not suggested. Whenever I start a word with "aan", it suggests aangaafiets. Other words are not suggested at all. I don't know what's wrong, but something is rotten in the state of T9...

Hi!

I've extracted the T9 files from my Qtek 8010 and tried to move them to the s100. But intellipad doesn't recognize the new files. So if someone wants to play with them and try to find a solution here they are.
The languages are: Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Czech and Hungarian.

Hi there! I must say that this sounds very interesting indeed!
Since I'm a native swedish-speaker, a swedish T9-dictionary is the one thing highest on my wish-list right now! (Don't feel the need to pay out nearly 800 SEK for a swedish operating system...)
But these .udb-files are something completely new for me, and I was wondering, how do you edit them? I have the one frewys posted on top of this page, and if I open it in i.e. Notepad, it displays correctly and so, but how do I edit it without f***ing it up? Can I edit it in Notepad? And also, where do I put it on my Qtek?

Regards from a rather new Pocket PC user (but a very pleased Qtek-owner!)

I have all valid swedish words in this file. The problem is that the words are only in their original form, no inflections.

If anyone is interested, grab it.

I haven't tried it since I'm getting my phone on friday, but please try and give some feedback.

I got a .txt file with a bit over 37000 words AND their conjugates/inflects/declines (don't really know what to say in english, but when you "bend" words (throw, threw, thrown)).
Though, it's 3.3 MB for the .txt file! Should make hell of a .udb-file! ;) Will try and see what I can do with it...

And BTW, I don't really understand how this work! I've renamed the file I want to use to IntelliPad.udb, and replaced the standard IntelliPad.udb in the Windows dir. But still it only suggests words from the language I have selected. What is it that I don't understand?

frewys

Why dont u post it for us "wordcollectors"
How many words do we RELLY need;)?
U have to make a soft reset i think for it to find it. and the wordlist ONLY works for intellipad (I think again ;) )

Good luck

Here is what to do.

First of all you make sure that you file looks like this in a texteditor like notepad that dont put any oformatiing opg other nifty thinmgs into the file.

run
ran
rought
river

You have to make sure that any word is terminated with a new line. That also applys to the last word so that after the last word a new line is inserted.

Then you have the file clear, deactivate the intellipad by selecting any other input method. Put the phone in the cradle and overvrite iintellipad.udb in the windows folder. You have to make sure that your file has this name. Then just take the phone out the cradle and select intellipad as yor input method. If you follow my instructions you would now have intellipad suggesting the words in your file.

No need for any reseting og any kind.

Anyone can help here?

My contacts, how can I fastly enter these with intellipad. For instance, I have "Stef" as a contact. Normal keyboard I type S...T and stef is already mentioned and I can click on it and the name is entered to type the message to this person.
When I try this with intellipad I can type S....T..., but nothing is mentioned and I can't enter the contact. When I type S...T....E....F, still nothing mentioned and the contact is not shown!

Anyone knows how to handle this?

Still having this problem: When I have intellipad activated and I want to send a message to STEF in my contacts. Normally I can type S...T...E...F and it will suggest STEF and I can click and the at TO: STEF (+31XXXXXXXX). But when I use Intellipad, I type S...T....E... and nothing is mentioned... How to do, I really can't get through this....

I should rather look for the company to deliver other languages...
But no website or so found on the web.

It would be great to simply choose an other language in the options panel.
And if we could deliver the word lists to them,...just maybe...

I saw in the windows folder there are language files like T9Frenchudb.dll and so, but I guess they are binairy, they don't open.

If I only could place a T9Dutchudb.dll, if it was only that simpel...

Have you tried it? If so, does it give you localized autocomplete for the standard keyboard or do you have to use the one provided with the software? And can you install only the autocomplete parts? When installing the demo version it seems like you can't get localized autocomplete without translating the entire interface (menus and all).

Godyn
2nd February 2005, 10:03 PM
It's a nice piece of soft. It actually gives the autocompletion on the keyboard and learns fast. It has some nice visual extra's: autocomplete shows the typed letters in bold and others not, colo keyboard (very handy in one overview), adjustable 3d, bold keyboard,...
You can only install the whole package, only language or custom with choise of docs extra or not.
the demo works fine, only bummer it shows a nagging screen once in a while

Vet ikke. J

If you open the registry and go to "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Spell Check" you'll find a key named "Main_dict", which points to a *.lex file (which btw is similar to the ms office's one). I guess that could have something to do with the spell checker/auto-complete. Anyone has any idea about this? Since it wasn't posted before, probably I'm completely wrong

Great find, by adding words to the Intellipad udb file!! The only problem with it is that the file can't be to large. I've put almost the whole Van Dale dictionairy in it, but that made the udb file 4mb. When I changed to the Phone Pad as inputtype, it kept on loading with me ending to softresetting the phone. Btw I also tried some things with an C500 Dutch T9 file (T9DutchLdb.dll) but I couldn't get it to work. Btw the Intellipad also uses another file called IntelliPadEnglishsomethingsomething.dll. Maybe there lies the key. :D

Several options :

http://www.pocketkai.net/asp/en/details.aspx?336
Kai's ABC Editor: $8 USD, you can import word list.

http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=18139
TextPlus for PPC: $15 USD, you can import word list.

I tested the Kai's ABC, and it works perfect !

It can add word list (import from a text file) and be used on keyboard, letter recognizer, pocket word, notes, etc.

It enhances the T9 dictionary!

$8 USD is cheap, or you can always <censored>

Deuxani,
Indeed, I tried also that stuff. the UDB file takes lots of time to load.
I also noticed that after a soft reset, all the udb files and libraries in my PDA are erased from scratch.

I thought building up my own udb by using a small list and complete it while using it. But no way thus...

Seems the new WindowsPPC version gives some solutions, but I don't think it will be easy to upgrade... I still havent found how to make a ROM backup with the S100.

no problem mate :)

But I think that Indonesian language word list needs to be edited "more", removing unfamiliar, infamous words ! But unfortunately you have to do it manually :)

I will order KAI's ABC editor because it works perfectly to use any wordlist in the JAM input (keyboard, letter recognizer, etc.), and it is very inexpensive ($8 USD).

hehehe.. makasih ya...

but hey, why not use english in this forum.. so others can understand too.. :) thanks again 4 gogol and kampar

I have not loaded it yet because I am still busy editing it. I knew that it will be slow. Maybe you can contact the developer, ask why its so slow.

Btw, how is the performance? I meant how fast is the prediction work with that size of additional word list.
