First I appologize for the delay in the availability of this ROM. I was out of town on some business, and the site was down again for a certain time.

To get down to the details, this ROM is the complete set of all three .nbf files, I chose the 2.06 NK.nbf because the cleartype fonts are way better than the 2.02. The radio stack included is version 1.18, and the extended ROM (ms_.nbf) is a customized 2.06.100a, which is a mixture of the extended ROM that dcs posted, the one that came with the 2.06 ROM from the mystery guy and the official Asian 1.60.44 ROM.

I had to remove a couple of the Asian telco provider settings because there was no more space left in the extended ROM since the new versions of the software had larger file sizes than before, and the AutoConfig for Asian telcos alone takes up a lot of space too.

I still included the Extended ROM Viewer and almost all of the newer versions of the software included in the extended ROMs posted by dcs and the mystery guy.

The following telco providers were removed (due to their file sizes being the largest):

1. 1010
2. One2Free

The Socket SDIO Wi-Fi that were available in the previous ROM I posted were also removed due to the lack of space, the SPB GPRS Monitor that was provided as part of one of the extended ROMs posted was also removed. The thumbpad driver is in the extended ROM but does not auto-install, since some times it causes problems, you may install it separately by just clicking on the cab file.

The files removed are included in the .ZIP file so that they may be installed separately if desired.

I would like to thank dcs, mamaich, the mystery man and all other developers who contributed to this endeavor.

I am not too clear about the problem, you flashed your device with the ROM I posted?

This did not happen to me during the multiple times I flashed my device and my dad's device.

I am a bit puzzled here, can anyone help in this matter? ANy similar experiences?

I had once tried to upgrade my unit (blame it on initial enthusiasm, I'd seen all these talks about upgrading to newer ROM versions everywhere on the net that I downloaded an upgrade 2 weeks before I actually bought my device) with a ROM version I had downloaded from O2's UK (The unit was bought from singapore/Honkgkong...Asia ROM presumably)site which naturally and the consequenses were very depressing , I was left with a dead machine on my hands and nobody I knew could be of any help. Anyway that had been taken care of a couple of days back when it reflashed at an authorised service centre.
Well that being that , now that its working fine and now that I see all this talk about windows mobile 2003 SE here I have this irresistable urge to try upgrading mu unit to run SE.
A couple of things before I try to get adventurous

1)How do I do a backup of of EVERYTHING ON MY MACHINE ( Original BASIC/Just out of the box/First time run software included ) So that I don't have to take a week off work just to get the unit reflashed.

2) How do I do a restore all of the backed up data on my device if the 2003SE upgrade doesnt work? From what I have learnt , it isnt anything like a regular computer where just about anyone can format boot and reload windows if it crashes.
I figure a dead PPC is like a regular computer with a dead bios.

I can understand that this post is about 5 times the length of a usual post here but I just had to get all my backup plans in place before I jump off a cliff.

you can use either the x-backup in the xda itself and making a complete back up to your sd or mmc card or make a backup via active sync on the tools menu

This is gonna be my first time to update the ROM of my device so some questions:

Did you include upgrade instructions on the zip?

How do I disable some of the .cab files on the extended rom? I dont like some of them.

Had any probs with this rom on Globe?

For full compatibility with WM2003SE we need to use O2XDAIIs ASIAN extended ROM not the one that come with 1.60.44.

Anyone with Asian O2XDAIIs please upload your Extened Rom!!!!!! Just do the registry tweak to unhide the Ext-Rom and you can copy all the files inside and share it here.

hello,

pardon my ignorance but i need some tips on how to do the upgrade. i was used to the previous rom upgrades having just one exe file; when i opened the zip for this rom the following are contained:
Folder: Removed
Exe: HimaclearJumpCode
Exe: HimaGetDeviceData
Exe: HimaUpgradeUT
nbf: ms_
nbf: nk
nbf
Radio_

my question is: do i simply double click the HimaupgradeUT? or do i double click all of them? and for the nbf files; what do i do with em?

cheers then

I've got an XDA2 running 1.66 in HK. Can I upgrade to this version? I noticed that you said the 1010 and One2Free setting were taken out.

I'm on CSL, which I guess is 1010, does that mean I will not be able to connect if I upgrade?

Thanks for your help. It would be really exciting if I can upgrade.

Thank you ZeroXtreme for posting the WM2003SE ROM.

I have downloaded the file but before upgrading, I would like to know is the BT a Widcomm stack or MS Stack?

My XDA2 had problem with Widcomm Stack so I reverted back to MS though less features but less trouble too.

Thanks for your kind advise.

I recon phone skin from old O2 rom might not be compatible with second edition as in landscape mode. So in that case we might have to use original win2003 se phone dialer skin or have u included a second edition compatible O2 phone skin?

If it is from the Asian 1.60.44 then it is not compatible. that is why I said we need XDAIIs Extended ROM Asian Version. Dont get too excited yet unless you want to do a hard reset later when someone is willing to upload the Asian version of XDAIIs

If i am not mistaken, this is NOT an official WM2003 SE upgrade for XDA 2 (be it Europe, US or Asia) and that is the reason why you see "Use at your own risk".

Correct me if i am wrong.

Your EXT ROM has no problem for me but ZeroXtreme has. I was testing out his ROM when I faced the above problem.

BTW, what have you re-cooked ie. removed and added?

I removed GPRS monitor and Blackberry service after installation as they were of no use to me.

It would be better to add the SDIO WiFi driver in. Can you replace the Running Program by the original icon of a running man instead of two memory ICs.

Do you think you can upload your new re-cooked EXT ROM again?

1. Latest Socket SDIO Wi-Fi Driver
2. Thumb Pad Keyboard Driver
3. Extended ROM Viewer

If you did not update your device with ROMs from other carriers such as T-Mobile and i-Mate (CDL), you dont have to do those steps, just run the upgrade program, anyway you will know if you have to do those steps when you upgrade and it gives you a country core error, dont worry at this point it will not do anything to your device.

well, took the plunge and upgraded to the asian rom. result? IT WORKS!!! amzing piece of work that one! i WAS a little worried when i clicked the upgrade app; then this message appeared that there was an error in the upgrade. by that time the screen was simply blank and showing "USB 1.02" something...anyway the upgrade instructions said to take out the unit and perform a reset; then put it back in. i then double clicked the upgrade app and for the next 45 minutes or so my unit's rom was being changed. now she's back, and the landscape thingee DOES work!

I got the O2 Xda IIs Asian extended ROM from the post in the main forum, added the following:

1. Latest Socket SDIO Wi-Fi Driver
2. Thumb Pad Keyboard Driver
3. Extended ROM Viewer
4. CAB Installer Utility
5. EmailWiz

I did not take out anything from the original extended ROM, just added the 5 item listed above.

Seeing as everyone is customizing their own ROMs to their personal preferences, I will only upload the extended ROM if users still want me to. :)

ZeroExtreme have you uploaded this file already? What's it called and where can we download it? My sincerest thanks to you! Excellent work Pare!

hi boybi,
If u want to use any download agnet like DAP to download any stuff from here then u need to put ur xda-developers.com user/pwd info somewhere in ur DL agent. If u want to download from xda-developers ftp put xda/xda as user/pwd.

Still under test phase, there will be revisions to the items I listed, and I will be removing Xda IIs specific files.

I will post it as soon as I have fully tested it out, but it looks very promising, faster and alot more stable.

I upgraded my device from 1.72.181 to customized wme2003 SE asian rom uploaded by zero extreme and it works fine. only thing that is that is missing is the blackberry module which was available in 1.72.181. If someone could upload the blackberry module alone then my device would be complete with all necessary utilities :D

Thanks in advace

Hi ZeroXtreme,

Thanks for your hard work, I just upgraded mine, so far it runs flawlessly and fast. I only notice the B/T profile sometimes become invisible/dissapear.
But the worst thing is that whenever a incoming call, most of the time it did not turn my BT, I can't use my BT.
And intermittently when I dial out, sometime can use and sometime can not trigger my BT ! Previously using the 1.60 w/o any problem with my BT.
Please advise !!
Thanks !!!

This is the cab file for the BlackBerry functionality. Do search on this topic though. After you install this cab most likely BlackBerry function will not work. Some folks have reported success after performing certain rituals. I for one am still in the dark. Hope you have better luck.

Hello ZeroExtreme! Need to know if the upgrading ROMs of my O2 XDA IIs and my daughter's i-mate PDA2k are now available?...one problem I have noticed with i-mate PDA2k is the missing AutoConfig which makes hard for me to set up its MMS and GPRS config. Unlike my O2 XdaIIs...simple and easy! is there anyway i could have this AutoConfig for my daughter's i-mate PDA2k?

i-mate PDA2k ( other version of O2 XDA IIs)

ROM version: 1.12.22 WWE
ROM date: 09/27/04
Radio version: 1.02.00
Protocol version: 1337.32
ExtROM version: 1.12.169

I bought these 2 units here in Greenhills, Ortigas.
So far both performing well.

Thanks Pare ko (ZEROEXTREME) for any help you could extend

The AutoConfig is a program that comes with a whole mess of .CAB files that are telco specific. I would suggest that you download the extended ROM of the Xda IIs that was posted somewhere in this forum and replace your extended ROM since that is an iMate, I assume it is specific for Australia. The contents of the Xda IIs extended ROM does not have to be altered anymore, except maybe for the carrier ID since the one posted is from O2 and the PDA2k is CDL.

ok ive upgraded to SE. The problem was that I needed to find the password to edit the .nbf's to change it to imate, anyway how do you change the horrible T-Mobile dialer skins to the windows default ones?

Thank you,.

Hi ZeroXtreme,

I try to read through the forum, but couldn't really find the instruction or tools required to upgrade the rom. Can I use XdaTools to flash it? I use this to flash my previous xda 1 rom to windows mobile 2003, it was easy.

Now seems a little more complex to me, does it need more than one tools like HimaUpgradeUt.exe? And trying to find that tool in the forum didn't find it yet now. Please help. many thanks in advance. :)

Dear all
I would like to ask whether SE extend rom can be used in 1.66 or 1.72 OS? E.g. mms 2.0 to replaced mms 1.608 so that we will have incorporation of mms into outlook?

The HimaUpgradeUt.exe comes stock in any ROM upgrade, it may be under different file names for different vendors, even your Xda I had this program, you extract it from the ROM upgrade package (either a .zip, .rar or .exe file)

You can get this from the ROM packages posted from on this forum.

Many thanks ZeroXtreme for the info! Anyway, I have already manually configured Globe MMS, GPRS, and internet setting of my daughter's i-mate. It's a long painstaking approach. Globe provided me a print copy (2 pages) of their config. It's now working fine. My daughter and I are now able to chat using Agile Messenger!

Again, maraming salamat pare ko. Mabuhay ka!

Ola!

I am in the process of upgrading my baby with the asian version on this thread. Being the first time i have ever done this I am a little confused as to what to do with the other files i downloaded.

The .exe files I just run but what do i do with .nbf files?

Maraming Salamat, ZeroXtreme! For you hard work!

:D

yup; just run the exe file and don't bother the other items. make sure your xda is on the cradle with the adapter; once the upgrade starts don't touch her...go do something else like watch tv since it does take around 40-45 minutes for the whole thing to finish. and once it's done...viola!

oh, make sure you follow the on-screen instructions of the upgrade. my heart skipped a beat when i received a message saying that there was a problem with the upgrade. my xda screen said something like "usb 1.06" or something. but after doing a reset, plugged him back on the cradle, did the upgrade again and everthing worked fine from there on.

cheers and good luck

Guys,

I am getting a bit confused now on which version i should use.....

1)DCS' version (original 2.06)
2) Zero Extreme's "2.0" 25mb Customized Asian ROM
3) Zero's Extreme's "2.1" 11mb Customized Asian ROM

I think my bootloader is 1.06

PPC details:

O2 XDA2
ROM version: 1.72.00WWE
Radio version: 1.17.00
Protocol version: 1337.28
ExtROM version: 1.72.126

I may need the blackberry software as this is pending approval for our company.

DCS/ZeroExtreme,

What would you recommend that i do? Im not really very techinical about PPCs, and i am presently not capable of cooking my own ROM. I use Globe Telecom, but would also like to have the auto config for SMART and other local telcos.

Please, someone point me in the right direction.

Thank you very much in advance.
