View Full Version : Accessing POP3 Email Through WAP GPRS

I'm a newbie, so forgive me if this has been answered before!

I have an XDA 2, and am using an O2 PAYG SIM Card. After many emails to/from O2 Support, I have finally got access to GPRS WAP. This seems to be limited to accessing WAP through the O2 Active WAP, and will only access certain web addresses. If I type in a 'normal' web address (eg http://google.co.uk), the XDA 2 tries to dial GPRS Mobile Web GPRS and fails. Same thing happens if I try to send/receive from my POP3 email in-boxes which I have set up. This happens even when I am 'on line' with WAP, and WAP then drops out.

O2 have told me that only WAP access is allowed with PAYG SIM Cards.

Question - Is there a work-around for this? All I want to do is send/receive emails when out and about.

Thanks for any help I might receive.

You need Internet Access Point. If they can only provide you WAP access point you can not access internet or use POP3. You need to change your package, if they don't provide you with internet access point.

for example in Pakistan we use

ufone.plwap for wap
ufone.plinternet for Internet

You need to set ufone.plinternet to use Internet and POP3.

Thanks for the response above. I am beginning to realise that the price of using a PAYG SIM Card is the inability to access the web through 'normal' means.

But again, does anyone out there have experience of O2 PAYG?
