Thats great news :)

Which department did you speak to, billing, tech support or.... ?

Did they ask why you wanted to unlock your phone and if so what reason did you give them?

Cheers,
A.

Would you please share the "independent support team" number?

And secondly, what reason u told them to get it unlocked? (e.g. going aboard? I got Orange Sim? or??)

Greatly Appreciated and your help in this matter will not be forgotten :)

I called 100 from the phone.
I had the same answers as well (21days/shop/not after12 months)
I called again and said I was going abroad and needed to use a local SIM card, he put me on hold for 5 minutes and then said it would be unlocked in 24 hours. Price 15£.
I'm not sure what will happen in 24 hours as, from what I am reading here, it is a lock on the phone not the network, Right? I should have asked him to give me the code over the phone?
I'll call him again tomorrow to see what's up.

Yes you need to call them back and you will get your code

as for the £15 i did not get charged that at all
but its a small price to pay for a simm free phone that is still under warrenty

Same problem here, waited for 24 hours but nothing comes out, couldn't reach back the one who i've spoken to, even I've got her name, extention no., place of call center...really don't know hows the O2 CS working...Everyone gives me different answer.

i know its a big place but if you gave them your phone number it should be logged on the system.
Next time you call ask for a call ref
then they have to log the cal properly

i some times think that O2 CS dontdo there job as good as they sould do

Hope this helps

I called them again. Indeed they screwed up, They now told me that my request was logged but that it would take 21 days for them to retreive the unlock code out of the system.
The 24 hours timescale they gave me was to make sure that international calls were not barred on my SIM card.
I'm leaving for australia tonight unfortunately. :(

Umm No !

Each unlock is unique to each phone and is usually IMEI linked. So what work son one phone will most definately not work on another phone !

Finally, after about 10 calls, I got my XDA2s "unlatching code" from O2. Spoke to some new guy yesterday who wasn't too clear on the whole thing, then left it with me by saying "ok sir, it can take up to 21 days" and I'm thinking "yeah, ive heard that before" because 4 or 5 of my calls have ended with that same line.. only later to hear "your contract is not 12 months old yet" however, out of the blue he called up tonight and said "this is so and so from O2, we spoke last night.. I have your unlatching code for you" I nearly sh*t my pants, in fact I could have sh*t my pants and it wouldnt have mattered because i finally had my code! This guy absolutly made my day with this simple 8 digit code. Thanks mister!

So from my experience I must say that if at first you dont succeed.. if you really want that code - keep on trying... you'll get it eventually, but not likely the first try.

Just like i said keep trying they will give you your unlocking code
if you are very nice to them (chat them up a bit) you WILL get your code.

I am glad that i could help you all out with my experience with O2 CS

Happy Christmas to you all
